Hello all and welcome to the Southampton vs Everton thread by Saintsfcfan. I can't quite remember if this game is on TV or not or if it's just been moved to accommodate Everton's fleeting European adventure.

Saints take on Everton on Sunday afternoon in a game that will hopefully decide the fate of Mauricio Pellegrino. Anything other than a win and he will hopefully be gone. Everton are already on manager number two this season after sacking The Lying Dutchman, after it was realised that for all his arrogance and ambition, he didn't have a clue how to spend close to £150m. Everton fans have deluded themselves with believing Marco Silva or Carlo Ancelotti could be his replacement, but so far have been plodding along under David Unsworth.

Saints go into the match having tried the same tactic in every game. The master plan of attacking so slowly that the opposition think it's some kind of joker has backfired nearly every time, after teams realise that no, we really are this ****. Saints sit four points off the relegation zone and would have been just the one point off the drop, had Sofiane Boufal not decided to actually run towards goal. With 9 goals scored all season, only 4 goals have been scored from open play. Of these 3 goals, only 1 (Gabbiadini vs West Ham) has been the result of a pass from a teammate in behind the defence. I won't count Gabbiadini vs Newcastle, as he did that pretty much by himself.

Everton have also been far below fans expectations. Having spent most of the lukaku money on overpriced, average players, they now find themselves stocked up on attacking midfielders that have about as much pace as Doris from the tea shop. I'm sure they will have enough speed about them, however, to eventually stop Tadic's marauding walk up the field, or Redmond's dizzying jog to the edge of the box, stop the ball, and hit it with right foot, trick. The latter has fooled many before, especially his own teammates.

    The team:
    Cedric Van Dijk Hoedt Bertrand
    Lemina (please god) Davis
    Redmond Boufal Tadic
    Gabbiadini

Forster (he will slowly make his way towards the goal over the week)

    Prediction
A game of football will be played at probably the slowest pace ever witnessed. One team will win and another will lose. Or there could be a draw, you just don't know.
    15-0 Win for Saints.

    Must win?

Probably for MP it is at least. Can't say I'm overly confident.

    MP, please try something different.

    It's on Sky btw.

Will be heading for a glorious 0-0 until Forster does something **** and we lose 1-0

This match may provoke armchair supporters into cancelling their Sky subscriptions en masse, thus bringing about the downfall of the Murdoch empire. So not all bad, then :1980_boogie_down:

There may also be a valid case to answer if Sky attempt to market the match as 'entertainment'<doh>

    Alacaraz and Coleman.

Lukaku scored an own goal in the 3-0 win. Pelle and Yoshida got the others.

Oh Lord have mercy. Will anyone stay awake for long enough to see the final score? This could be the first game in Premier League history where nobody hears the result

My team if he's sticking with 4-2-3-1:

    McCarthy
    Cedric
    Virgil
    Hoedt
    McQueen
    Pierre
    Lemina
    Sims
    JWP
    Boufal
    Gabbi.

    Redmond not on the bench.
