Righto, here's the diet and fitness thread we should all use to exchange tips and advice on how to shift that festive girth. I've come out of the fat boy period at 15st 10lb, which is 5lb more than when I went in and a good 17lbs overweight. Initial target is 15 stone, hopeful target is 14.5 stone. Before you all think 15+ equals fat ****, you have to consider build into all this and I'm far from being a skinny ****er. So, my targets for the year are; 15 stone by March then 14.5 stone by year end. Skiing well by end of Feb (we're doing it Pisk!!!) 10k run by April Handicap of 7 by September. I will be giving up bread for January and beyond but not beer as I like it too much. Would appreciate diet tips, will definitely be doing some of Tel's burrito bowls for a start. Got a fitness/GPS band with app to monitor the whole shebang. Now, just got to finish last nights curry and this ale and we're all set.
dont rush to do 10K runs as your size it will **** up your knees very quick. Swimming is a good start
Well yes, that's a good point well made. There will be no McShit or KFC or bread. My diet isn't **** on the whole but, like most real people, I do enjoy a bit of the wrong stuff now and then. No doubt booze is my vice though as a couple of ales or wines is massively calorie rich.
Have been doing 5k treadmill runs for a while. My knees and shins start to play up at that stage so it'll be tough going beyond. It's just something I want to crack. I play squash a lot, overall fitness is not an issue. You're correct on swimming though and, working away as I do, I have the opportunity to do it with no real excuse not to. Will continue with the Monday yoga as well.
The yoga class tutor I usually go to has left and the new one is more pilates based so I've not got much choice in that. Haven't got time for both and the yoga class is more convenient than the pilates so it'll have to do.
Beer' s the killer though. They're just dead calories. I'll be struggling to give up the guinness but its gonna have to be done (says me with a guinness right in front of me). Starting tomorrow
These sort of threads are very informative and I always contribute quite a lot but I find they simmer down after about a week and eventually get dusty and stored in the archives, ala Spurlock's Gym.
No booze isn't on the table here but the veggie thing is OK, I've done it before and it does the job.
You woke up just over half an hour ago and then say I'm having no booze today. What a ****ing hero Happy New year petal. Get yerself an early night mate.
I was fully vegetarian from 1989 to 1998, it's really not that hard. Pescatarian is even easier. I would never cope with vegan though.
Run like a mofo. That’s what I wil be doing while hoping my lower back (genetic) and knee (football) gives me a break.
