Looking at the league table and the last 5 results this one really is a what could possibly go wrong game. Not so long ago Fleetwood were in the playoff position and we were way down there. We got Toumi and the results began to flow. Not as it turned out only because of him but that is sort of where it started. Fast forward and Fleetwood nicked him at the beginning of January. Since then their results have been the polar opposite of Argyle's. We now sit in the playoff spot and they sit in the relegation zone. If ever there was a dictionary definition of why this is a strange old game then the fortunes of the two are the words you might look for. So, I was looking for a "we owe them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,," thing and then thought why am I looking as I've already quoted it. The nicking of Toumi, although it has made absolutely no difference to us at all, is enough excuse to say we owe them something. Remember what they did Argyle and go get em and give them a damned good thrashing for their cheek. COYG
Strangely I actually forgot who their manager is. Our very own Mr Sheridan. Despite the ending of his Argyle time I actually liked the guy even if he was a bit on the boring side. He did exactly what was needed for us at the time and he did help to keep us in the league. Oh bollox to the sentimental stuff. You still owe them a kicking boys so go to it.
The trouble with unbeaten runs and max publicity all sounding positive all of the time when not used to it is that it builds an expectation that is often unrealistic. If people were more grounded then they would realise that we are going to lose some and drop points even if unbeaten in others. Just look at Fleetwood as an example of what can go wrong. Up there and cruising one minute and now in a dog fight. I don't have any illusions despite the go to it posts I generally use when opening a match day thread. A point would be ok even if I won't shout it out too loud. Sickness in the camp is a bit of a worry. Makes me think that lady luck is on a break at the minute and might not come back. Don't want to revert to the seasons start again with all the foul luck that entailed.
I think this is absolutely correct. With a full team available, firing on all cylinders , we can take on anyone. But, if there are a couple of key players missing, and we have a bit of bad luck, then we might not be invincible. For me, job done this season, everything else is a bonus. .
I think a lot thought we wouldn't be where we are and would be fighting a rearguard action all season so in that respect I agree with you about job done. I do think though that it's about not wanting the good publicity and runs to end abruptly. We aren't used to people saying good things about us and the more they do the more we want them to. I for one get really pee'd off about the media and complain very loudly that their coverage of stuff football ends mostly with the premiership only. When they pick your club out for special mention it then becomes very sweet indeed.
Absolutely, and everyone is very focused on achieving as much as we can this season. The media attention is very welcome, but, although I think with our best XI we can beat anyone, if we lose a couple of players, it might not be as straight forward. If we finish 7th it will still be a good season.
As you say Plym, there's a bug roaming about Home Park evidently. According to Pasoti we could be missing Bradley, Sarcevic & Sawyer - I'd guess that Masaki, Songo'o & ATS will start. GK - Matthews DF (R-L) - Threlkeld, Vyner, Songo'o, ATS DMF - Fox, Ness, Masaki AMF - (R-L) - Carey, Lamerias ST - Taylor SUBS - Letheren, Miller, Law, Sangster, Ainsworth, Church, Grant
Moses Makasi actually.....I think he only subbed once for a few minutes....he might show us something new to bolster our run in chances.
Songo'o and Makasi in for Bradley and Sarcevic...Bradley through illness....but a rumour going around the ground that Sarcevic has been suspended for a training ground incident....reported on the pasoti website.
