Do we have to....if it's in Russia it's fixed....Putin will win it all by himself.....i'll leave it to sensible.....I can't muster up any interest in it.

Won't miss Jack Wilshere ....arrogant git and prone to injury....he thinks he is the bees knees.

Now Shelvey has had a good second half to the season.....been running things like a well oiled motor.....but in the heat of world cup battle can he hold it together and not lose his discipline...that's probably why he isn't in the squad.

Wilshire has played some good stuff for Bournemouth and Arsenal but like Shelvey, his discipline can be a bit lacking and he is so injury prone, partly because he flies into tackles.

Also though it looks as though Southgate is going to play a narrow front three (a bit like our Derek) with wing backs bombing on from a midfield 5. That being the case, he need a fairly robust centre midfield 3 (again like our Derek) rather than an artistic one. It's good to see an England manager with a clear idea of how he's going to play and picking a squad to suit, rather than just picking the 23 biggest names and then wondering what to do with them.

If they picked the biggest names then why didn't Winterbottom get a game? Very technical examination of the squad there notdistant.

Not really, I just remember how he set the team out in the last couple of friendlies: 3 at the back, the quicker type of full back as wing backs, 3 up front or 2 with a "number 10" behind them..... like that you need a couple of robust centre midfielders, not artists!

Is it just me, or is anyone else not particularly interested in this event?. I normally look forward to the World Cup and watch numerous games, I just cant seem to muster any enthusiasm for this one......

No you aren't the only one lyndie. I only commented to her who must be ignored the other day that I can't muster much in the way of enthusiasm for the World Cup this time. I think it's just years of mediocrity why I can't. She replied that I would still probably watch every match I could which may turn out to be true in the long, run but at the minute I wouldn't. The closer it gets to kick off I would expect to be more interested but I seem to be less so rather than more. There just seems nothing to excite the imagination about it. Crap country to hold it in, expectation of a quick exit, fan trouble likely whether we want it or not and poor football to the spectator. What exactly is there to look forward to.

I see several flights taking Liverpool fans to Kiev have been mysteriously cancelled by the Russian authorities.

With fans having to travel to several venues during the group stages as well as getting into the country in the first place, that doesn't bode well.

All because we've been nasty to that nice Mr Putin........

Interesting seeing Kiev is in the Ukraine....Putin's undermining of the Ukrainians.....continually undermining its economy.

Russian speaking football thugs attacking Liverpool fans.....bodes well for the world cup.

What to expect at this years World Cup.

Russian ultra football thugs are suspected of being behind a terrifying attack on Liverpool fans in the Ukrainian capital.
Two of the 20-strong gang were arrested after the unprovoked assault on supporters in Kiev for tonight's European Final against Real Madrid.
Images taken show suspects wearing black T-shirts emblazoned with Russian words......one slogan was translated as: "All against us, we are against all. Police were speaking to them in Russian not Ukrainian.
It raises fears that ultra firms from across the border travelled to Ukraine for a warm-up attack on British fans before the World Cup which kicks-off in Moscow, 500 miles away. on June 14th.

Maybe those Liverpool fans who had their flights cancelled are the lucky ones.
Who in his right mind would go to the World Cup this year.

Next time 2022 you could get locked up for life for just looking at alcohol.

FIFA must be hiring extra storage facilities for their stash of brown envelopes...for choosing Moscow and the heat of the desert for consecutive World Cups.....that little Swiss gnome must be heartbroken that he isn't getting any of it.

Oooops yes quite a while since Kiev has been part of the USSR - officially at least! About 1 in 8 of the population are of Russian ethnicity apparently.
