No I didn't.....my son and grandson had thought about it....but they've been rather busy with a new puppy....very young and needing a lot of attention training wise at still only eleven weeks old....so it never materialized....and I wasn't going by myself.....Bromley somehow had 17,000 so called fans their.....Brackley had very few.
The penalty shoot out was down the Brackley end....so most of the spectators were half a stadium away.

 

I'm having a glass or two this evening even though it's a Monday. I did a favour for a neighbour today and then got some news after the event. There is a chap a couple of doors away who recently lost his wife very suddenly. Nice lady and very sad as we got on well with her. He had an accident a few years ago and has some trouble doing physical stuff on his own so I said I'd sort out his grass for him when I cut mine. Went to his house and cut the grass and did a bit of weeding around the flower bed for him which is something his missus used to do. Finished off and he popped out for a chat. Told me he had sold the house and would be moving very soon. Wish he had said before I did the garden as I would have not bothered and left it to the incoming. I'm sure the new people will be very grateful.................

 

Sensible, could you pop out a give my lawn a cut , front and back, also some weeds need removing and the drive could do with a sweep, seeing you are at a loose end now there is no football.. It would be appreciated to help a poor working man

Cutting your neighbours grass is a good idea sensible.....when the new people move in they'll know exactly where to come to get a repeat at regular intervals.

You could do the parks and road sides also, as they are a total mess. I saw 4 council gardners today working near us, all stood up watching one on a mower for over an hour, then they go for lunch after. We are paying for those moorons. If my lads turned up with the length hair some of them have they would be going home. What a state.. They could do with a strimmer on their heads and beards..

I decided to paint the back fence today. It's on top of a boundary wall so got the step ladder out, got the paint stuff out and the brushes (I have two as I'm very professional). Stirred the paint stuff into a nice texture and then it fecking rained. Put the paint stuff away and the brushes and ladder and went inside. It stopped raining. Bollox I thought I'm gonna have to try again. Got the lot out again and started slapping it on liberally. Did about 6 foot of fence and..........................yep it started raining again. Oh bollox I thought as I put everything back in the shed this isn't working very well. No sooner was the lock turned in the shed door and......................it stopped bloody raining again. I thought this isn't going to catch me out like that so I waited 15 minutes after it stopped before I got the stuff out once more. It was going well and I was half way along the fence before it bleddy rained again.

Now, by this time I was getting well and truly pee'd off. I had been waiting for it to rain for days and days to sort the plants and grass out but it refused to do it. Because I now wanted to paint the fence it didn't know whether to do it or not do it. The rain wasn't even hard enough to damp the ground anyway but enough to interfere with painting. I started doing this about 1pm. I finished painting having completed the job at around 7.15pm. I got the stuff out and put it away again at least 8 times during that period. I am now having a glass of wine and have resolved never to paint anything outside ever again.

I'm just about to pay for my season's subscription to the game commentary and live stream for most of the games.
I'm on the Not 606 everyday so try to keep up with the news.

 

That's what I call dedication Mr BC. There is no way on this earth I would be up by 7am to listen to a game. Long may you remain a contributor to our small but beautifully formed team of Argyle experts.

 

I'm off for a week in the morning. It's the other half's 70th during the week we are away hence the holiday. Where would you like to go I asked. I thought Spain maybe or even Italy. We had a lovely time in Austria a few years ago so perhaps a trip to the mountains and valleys. Could be Portugal or somewhere in the Med perhaps, Nope none of those. We are going to Chester. Not sure why but there you go. Apparently it's "old". Never let it be said I don't try to please.

 

If it's something old that Mrs sensible likes...she could of just stayed at home with you......

Back and can confirm it is Old. Stayed in a house hired via AirBnB in the middle of Chester. Very nice area by the river, Lots of history and all within a short walk of the place. Also went to the zoo. The tropical animals were reluctant to come out it was so hot. Only the stupid humans were daft enough to walk around it for hours. It was roasting that day. Went into Liverpool for a day out as well. Liked the Dock area. Loads of history stuff and museums. An I went to the Cavern Club. Rockin!!!! Typically Paul McCartney turned up the next day and did a gig. Never liked the smug git anyway...............

Knackered now as the traffic on the way back was crap as usual. Seven hours to do a 5 and a half hour run.

 

Everytime I come into this bar I seem to be reporting some rubbish news. I need a drink after today. I don't know what it is at the moment about the news being carp all the time but nothing seems to have been a celebration of late. I don't have to mention my football team because we all know how bad that is. Over recent weeks my wife has had to have injections in her eye due to a bleed. She has had Macular Degeneration for a number of years now but the jabs are still not nice when things happen. My grandaughter was in hospital twice with a reaction to penicillin and today just about rounded off the Casualty list. My sister-in-law has been taken into hospital and tests have shown she has cancer with most of her stomach and bowel likely to be removed. Why is it that when you get one lot of bad news you seem to get it by the bucketful for weeks. I'm almost afraid to answer the phone now. Live life to the full I say because you never know when Mr ****news is going to turn up and spoil things.

 

Wow sensible...I won't be asking you for your lottery numbers this week.....your having tough times at present family wise.....very difficult for your wife with macular degeneration.....we had a friend awhile back with that so we do understand the problem with that......plus your granddaughters penicillin reaction....Mrs Plym has to stay away from penicillin. Your sister-in-law and your family must be in shock over her cancer diagnosis....hard to see the way ahead for you all over that.
I think you and Lyndy need a win by Argyle on Saturday to ease the situation....Charlton do seem to have some major injuries at the moment....so a glimmer of light there maybe.

 

Know what you mean plym as have just signed up for the post code lottery this month. Think I might cancel it now. Don't do the other lottery anymore. Just as well I think. It amazes me how one thing starts a chain reaction and once something happens it seems to trigger a load of other things to follow on. The wife was diagnosed with Macular about 15 years ago and for years nothing seemed to happen. You don't forget it but it sort of means less as time passes. We were told originally that she could end up losing sight altogether but that seemed way off and possibly the worst case senario at the time and over the years. Then she wakes up one morning and says there was something wrong and she could hardly see anything. We did the Eye Infirmary stuff and they gave here a series of injections a couple of years ago. The thing seemed to stabalise and you would never think there was anything wrong if she was stood in front of you. Fiercely independant she just carried on. A few weeks ago she had the same thing again and this time the sight was almost non existant. Hence the more injections now which have worked to an extent but each time the sight gets worse. She gets so frustrated having to ask me to do something. I hate needles so having one in the eye would crucify me. The hope is it won't bleed again but I think she believes it will and the thought of losing her sight altogether is more than daunting. I don't even want to think about it.

As for the sister-in-law life just isn't fair. She is a lovely lady who would do anything for anyone. They have always kept themselves and claimed nothing in life. Suddenly she gets a bit ill and instead of it being something simple it turns out to be this. We went to see her today and had a great couple of hours having a laugh and joke with the staff in Derriford and in the ward. No sign of the news to come and then a few hours later get told the outcome of the days tests. There is just no justice in this world.

 

To celebrate my 1000th like I must buy a round of drinks and include Wooperts who kindly supplied it. Step up chaps and name your poison......................no nuts though.
