Prediction League Predictions League - 2018-'19

Here we go again - New season.

NOTE:
The management committee - Duffens_Briefs & yours truly, have made a minor change to the rules. We thought 4 Championship fixtures per week, at the expense of the historic normal 5 PL fixtures, would add to the interest given City's current league status.
First set of fixtures for the new season will be supplied by Duffens_Briefs at least a week before the first PL matches start.

Yours truly will post weekly results & approx monthly season-to-date stats as the season unfolds.

Recommend you check your weekly scores. Appeals after 2 weeks will be summarily ignored.

NOTE: (Edit 29/08/18 - happened in Round 3 recently).

If any punter inadvertently submits TWO or more sets of predictions for the same round, the first set posted will be the one that is recognized for the record. If either the first or subsequent set(s) are nullified before the deadline for entry for the given round, the remaining set is the set of record. If spotted before the deadline by anyone else, please comment by posting by replying to the errant miscreant.

(A) Format etc

10 fixtures per set:

Weekend fixtures only (Sat, Sun, & Mon). City's Friday matches only exception.
- 4 PL matches
- 4 Championship (must include HC AFC's match),
- 1 L 1
- 1 L 2
*** 90 Minutes Rule. If any fixtures require 30 mins extra time to be played (FAC, playoff 2nd leg fixtures), the score at 90 minutes is the result of record for the purposes of the Prediction League.
*** If a punter inadvertently submits 2 or more submissions - daft sods with poor short-term memories like me (tc), the first date/time stamped set will be used.

(B) Fixture set up:

*** Anyone can submit a set of fixtures: - let's have as many punters as possible contributing to setting of fixtures ***

History tells us the only reliable punter in this regard is Duffens. He's up for a promotion. Well deserved, based on his track record of keeping the average weekly scores down to
approx 6.5 points out of 30 available per week.
I vote for Duffens. You lot don't get a vote.

- First set of fixtures posted is used
- submit set after the FIRST game of the previous set has kicked off
- as early as possible in week to give participants max time to enter
- If no set appears before mid-night GMT Wednesday,that week is void.

Note: NO FIXTURES TO KICK OFF BEFORE 3 p.m. Saturday UNLESS it's City's match.
Note: Some mid-week fixture sets may be set up in exceptional situations (Easter, Christmas etc)

(C) The competition.

- predict scores for each fixture
- 3 pts for "exact" score, 1 pt for correct W/D/L

NOTE:

A - weekly points total winner (or share of win)

B - total points winner over whole season (tie-breaker - points/week played)
Holder - Blaknamberblood ( 272 pts)
C - total number of wins over season (tie-breaker is high-water-mark points in any win throughout season)

D - Hull City matches total points (tie-breaker - pts/week played)

Just to keep you eager beavers posted...
The first set of fixtures ie Round 1 will be posted on Sunday 5th for the weekend of 11th/12th August ie Sheff Wed vs Hull City.
Anyone is welcome to post the fixtures thereafter, usually after the results have been posted on Sunday by TC.

Great to have you all back. I'm looking forward to the new season on here but not necessarily on the pitch.

 

Just wondering why you’re not doing a first week prediction? Is it because there’s no PL?
Will competition fixtures only be run when the PL is involved?
Does that mean 8 of City’s fixtures won’t be part of the predictions?

 

City played 46 league games last season, there were 42 rounds (I think).
There are likely fallow weekends on formal "international break" weekends as PL & Champs matches don't happen.
