^^^^^^^^ This, 100%. It's just obvious it's Liverpool's year cos, like, the media say so and everything.
It used to piss me off that the media only ever got on Poch’s back with this “about time you won something” bollocks, whereas Klopp was the media darling and equally had won **** all. What with them bottling the CL and bottling 3rd slot to Spurs on the last day of the Prem League, last season, I’m expecting Klopp to get roasted by fans and media alike if ‘Pool win **** all, in this coming season.
I think it is Spurs who get stick for not having won a real trophy in nearly 30 years, not so much Poch. Poch has been getting into the top 4 with a squad that costs, relative to man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool....peanuts. Spurs have no right being in the top 4, yet they have done so on a couple of occasions now, which is a good achievement. Problem is, no one remembers that "awesome team that almost finished second that time" in 20 years, but either way, Poch will find himself handicapped at Spurs with the competition they have to face, especially now the club is tied down with debt from the new stadium, we saw what that did to Arsenal, they won **** all for a decade after that. If Poch can grab an FA Cup or something, then that will a long way to legitimising Spurs as a big club.
The pressure is all on Klopp and the RS imo. They’re now expected to challenge by everyone from their own fan base through the press, pundits and rival fans alike. Let’s see what Klopp was actually got, now his main man - ‘the brain’ Buvac has ****ed off. Is there any real substance behind the hugs, cuddles and smiles.
As Bod says, it's more about Spurs not winning anything of note for 30 years which draws the criticisms when your fans refer to yourselves as a big club, rather than Poch who has done okay with what he's got. I'm a bit surprised that Levy hasn't backed him this window after all the 'brave' talk at the end of last season. But it wouldn't be the first time Levy has given empty words to his staff and players. It's a massive season for Poch and your top players, they need a major trophy this season, as another season potless is going to see players wanting to move to clubs where they can win things, and possibly for the manager too, especially as is widely predicted, Maureen ****s the bed this season and walks away from Utd. As for Liverpool, I agree with everything you say. Klopp has spent a ****ing fortune and there can be no excuses for them not winning anything this season.
Klopp spent a lot, but a large chunk of that has been mitigated by Coutinho, and they mugged Palace for 30 odd million for Benteke.
think its because Liverpool were scraping into top 4 for the first time in forever and they didn't really have any big star players except for Mane (who only moved the season before) and Coutinho whereas Spurs have been there or there abouts since 2015 and have a team of young players who are much bigger names than what Liverpool had. Players want clubs to show ambition especially when they are really close, especially if they are staying at the club to be paid peanuts whereas a lot of the pool players weren't desirable or were being paid the going rate.
I think at least for those Liverpool players they will be thinking that their club are being ambitious by splashing all that cash. If I were a spurs player though, I'd be thinking I'd been hoodwinked by all that talk of building for the future and 'being brave' in the transfer market. To see my club sign nobody and watch team mates angling for the exit door.
With respect, though, Bodi, that isn't the point I'm making. We all know that Spurs/Poch/Levy gets stick from the media for "having won nothing" and us Spurs fans know it's all bollocks. The point I'm making is that Klopp has won nothing and yet is looked upon, by the media, as the Second Coming, despite having finished lower than Spurs in every season he's been at the club.
No, we don't. Poch is building the club in the wake of our new stadium. Maintaining top 4 during this transitional phase is what the club wants. If he achieves that, he will have worked wonders. A trophy would be a bonus.
Players want trophies mate. And if they don't get them at Spurs they will go to clubs who give them the chance of winning some.
Utter bollocks! The players know that trophies will come, in due course. They have been made, by Poch, a part of something really exciting, at Spurs, and you sense that they are prepared to stay the distance to achieve greatness with the club. The only reason why I would want us to win a trophy is to silence you desperate wums.
Time will tell it's own tale, Pix. In any event, you are in absolutely no position to gob off on any of this, given your Biblical "Kane is a one season wonder" prediction **** up!
That was only taking the piss out of your Harry Lame comment, amazing that you still haven't worked that one out. Anyway, as for Spurs players being content with winning **** all, yes mate we'll see how that one turns out. I'm not going to rob you of your delusional hope that they will whittle their careers away at Spurs when they could be winning trophies. I'm not that cruel mate.
They might not come in due course though, especially if you have a poorer season this time round and Poch/Kane etc. start eyeing the door.
