Derek Adams cannot find the mid-field player he needs before Thursdays deadline....so there will not be any additions to the squad.

That is clearly one view and I doubt we will ever get very close to agreement . Of course if the football club don't pass on the labour charge (or a proportion of it ) it would mean less money in the playing budget. I suppose we should/could have added £5 to each ST and posted them out for free...-it is all ultimately the same pot of money.

With all due respect lyndie that's bullshit. What it is in truth is this is the way football treats customers in general. Not just Argyle but in every club. Like Brent's pot of money would be affected that much by posting something out for nothing. The "it would affect the club's finances" is pure emotional blackmail which supporters have had to swallow for ever and a day. I paid it, I have my ticket, I resent it but lets move on. I hope they spend my 30p wisely.

I'm with Lyndhurst. You buy from Amazon? You pay for delivery, one way or the other. Get your groceries delivered? You pay one or another.

Unexpectedly, I got a new membership cards for my 4 Flexi 8 family tickets. Very upmarket. Embossed cardboard holders, handy fixture card. Impressed.

Small things, but despite a popular misconception, we are and will continue to try to improve in every aspect of the Club's business.

My son and his family are down Cornwall on hols at the moment...so I'm in charge of feeding Tiggles (cat) and Cookie (hamster) and picking up the post from the door mat....amongst the post today was my sons and grandsons Charlton season tickets....sent standard post...no faffing about with recorded delivery etc in time for Saturdays first home game against Shrewsbury....which they will miss being on holiday.

I don't buy from Amazon or have groceries delivered so wouldn't know if a charge applies or not. I don't need embossed anything or anything other fancy either. I need a card that works on a Saturday and a fixture list that's accurate and fits in a wallet. I also don't need fancy posting either just a plain old stamp and let the post office get on with it. Might look good in the Boardroom but in my World it is unimportant. The objection is on principal terms.

I really do despair and actually cant be bothered to respond, but, since you are clearly intent on a race to the bottom, I don't suppose you will be complaining about anything this season that might not be quite right? There have been far more positive comments than negative, which for me is an improvement on the status quo.

I'm not speaking for anyone else lyndie the above is my opinion whether you think it's right or wrong. I have heard many positive comments about the communication skills at Argyle these days since a certain person was employed and I absolutely applaud that. Not before time may I also add. But, that still doesn't make me have to agree with a fancy package I've been made to pay for when given no choice. Small thing maybe but it is just another thing football clubs do to supporters and show little care about. Not just Argyle.

The thing about football is it often doesn't give any consideration to the customer when it comes to charging for this and that. If I went into a Restaurant for example and thought I'd been seen off in some way I would probably never go back again. A customer lost. There are plenty of other Restaurants to go to so I have a choice. With football however there is only one local team and if I don't go to that one then I don't go at all. Clubs know this and in many small ways exploit that affiliation. If they had to cope with a customer lost like other businesses then perhaps they would consider the customer more than they do. Maybe they should have put an extra couple of quid on the ticket price and done the print and delivery free. That way I would not have been having this discussion with you or anyone. I might have complained about the season ticket price though.

Well exactly, all I can say is that issues like this are are discussed and debated at great length before they become policy. The aim is to be as fair and as reasonable as possible whilst recognising that running a football club is a very expensive business in all sorts of ways. Anyway , time to move on.

    Good news overnight.

This will be a difficult season at Home Park for everyone, with lots of regular grandstand occupiers being fitted into other areas whilst work is done to upgrade it.
I've been checking out the webcams 1 & 2 work showing you the new shop and ticket office being built to include the art deco façade (pull it down personally) and also been watching the demolition of the old Chisholm suite. What will the atmosphere be like with an empty grandstand.
Not being a season ticket holder (commuting costs would be more than the ticket) I have no real opinion over how PAFC cover costs to get season tickets out to the fans....ok you can be upfront and charge for doing it and the fan will see how much extra it is costing them....or you can just hide the cost in the cost of the ticket and the fan will not know how much it has cost to get their ticket to them.
I can see sensibles views regarding him being an Argyle fan with no alternative but either to accept it or not...no other club locally for him to support gives him no option (not like that around London) but to take it on the chin or not go. Maybe it would have been better for all concerned to have hidden the costs in the purchase price and then of course send it free....but even then some would moan about "hidden costs" and the club not being upfront with its fans who haven't another team to support. The PAFC costs will not make anyone rich and is not going in James Brent's pension fund (some say that) and won't fund a new player or Lyndys Christmas bonus so personally draw a veil over it and lets get playing the football.

Ps.....Charlton sent their season tickets out standard postage....so no fuss over signing for it and irate posties complaining about extended delivery times and having to write out slips. So fans who were not at home then having to queue up at Post Offices to pick them up.....over kill by the club personally....no one else will be using that ticket if it gets miss placed on delivery....the fan will be the only one eventually sitting in that seat anyway.

Changing the subject entirely, I was recruited into a business that had been acquired by a very large PLC. There'd been a deep reorganisation but the business still presented itself as a hodge-podge, made up of the rump of the old organisation structure, each doing things just ever so slightly their own way. Each bit could and did argue their way was best and was right for the local market.

It was decided centrally to rebrand, new name, new logo, new corporate colours, new letter heading, new business cards, standardised job titles... the lot. No exceptions. One of the most contentious issues was the painting of delivery trucks, the most visible face of the business. Many of these were run by owner-driver franchises, some with a single truck, some with dozens. There was the dickens of a job to fight off the pressure to vary the colour scheme, to put the stickers in different places or to add bits giving extra information not required by the new structure.

In the end the centre won. There were casualties. But we became a single, unified operation with an enhanced reputation. Medium sized customers and suppliers suddenly stopped trying to pick off individual business units they'd previously felt they could dominate. Customers had greater trust in our QA and H&S standards. We looked good and we were good.

In short, you are what the outside world sees. If you look shoddy, they assume you are shoddy even if actually, you aren't. If you the person picking up the telephone sounds amateur, the outside world assumes you are amateur even if you aren't. If you look disorganised, then they rightly assume you are disorganised.

Having a well structured board is important. Having a manager that looks and talks the part is important. Players conducting themselves properly is important. Conducting transfer dealing professionally is important. Having a ground to be proud of is important.

Sending out tickets in plain envelopes with the stamp not stuck on straight makes you look like a non-league club. Small thing as it is taken in isolation, signing for a professional presentation pack makes it seem something more important than it is, that you aspire to be better, that we are already getting better. I get it.

I upset the powers that be on pasoti by saying it should be got rid of....if that's art-deco then that period of time was overrated.....sorry Lyndy if you disagree with me.

I think it should have been knocked down and replaced with a replica using modern materials , but that is also an unpopular opinion. As I said, it has been debated to death both in real life and on social media so not going to start all over again!

The expensive running of the club is one for the supporters to pay in this case and not the owner of the business. But, don't get me started on that one again so I think move on is perhaps a wise choice.

I get the looking professional bit notdistant. However, in this case the looking professional is aimed at ordinary working class people in the main and not to some other business person. The wage structure in this area is generally quite low in comparison to a lot of places despite the high cost of living. If the price of leisure is aimed too high then a number of those potential customers can be put off and once lost are often not recovered due to them finding some other leisure on that day. The majority of people on a lower income are more interested in getting to the event rather than how an envelope looks when it arrives at their front door.

I never quite get why people are upset about keeping the look of the outside of a building. Surely if something new is being built then it should be recognised it is exactly that, something new. I'm more concerned about what goes on inside the stadium not what the outside looks like. Looking around Plymouth town centre these days, if you don't like the look of a building then you could have a field day with some of the monsterous things they have thrown up. Anyone seen the back of that new cinema complex at Bretonside?
