they will double his £30k weekly wage to £60k

what would City have been paying him? £20k?

Maguire will nearly double his wages soon

Both are worth a lot more now. I know Ehab's been criticised for the transfer fees but I think it would have been difficult to get a lot more given the relegation. Ehab was more at fault for not bring in Marco Silva in the summer along with the players he needed.

The fee for Harry at the time was fair.

The fee for Robertson was alarmingly low, but most were happy with it at the time.

Especially the bloke who banked the cheque. Have we ever had a chairman less knowledgeable about players and the game itself as Rehab?

Why what do you think he should have gone for?
There were no higher bids for him.
No one wanted to hijack the deal.

I agree the Maguire deal was decent at the time.

Robertson should of gone for £20m. More established then Maguire and young British left banks are hard to find.

If you're any good at business you could just negotiate a higher selling fee

When you consider that Stewart was part of the Robertson transfer, it starts to look a lot worse.

Maguire was undervalued by at least £10m.

When Newcastle got relegated from the PL, they still commanded decent fees for their players, we should be no different.

No one would have paid 20 million for robbo.
    They wouldn't have paid it.
not at the time he wasn't.
And now he's vastly over priced.

The £17m fee for Maguire was City's counter-proposal to Leicester's opening offer, but according to Craig Shakespeare who was their manager at the time, they were expecting to have to go up £25m and had budgeted to do so.

OLM has already stated that Leicester expected to pay £10m more for Maguire.

Why would no one have paid £20m for Robbo? Worse players in that position have gone for far more than that. The money we got for Robertson after the Stewart exchange was taken into consideration was derisory bordering on gross incompetence.

Don’t defend the Allams transfer policy by suggesting in any way shape or form that those fees were acceptable. As clearly they weren’t.

Keane went to Everton for 30 million. As a benchmark Maquire should of been between 20-22. The transfers gad just started going crazy. See the Clucas transfer for proof of that.

Fair point Chazz. Still lots of stupid money around at the time. Not sure if there was big cash up front rather than 3 year payment etc.

Ye could be lots of variables with contracts.

Leicester bid 15 million. If Harry was such a steal surely Man U Liverpool etc would have bid? They didn't cos Harry was still untested in their eyes with a lot of question marks about him.

    Same with robbo.

But Robbo went to a top 4 club - Liverpool! Maguire was sold early on in the window. What’s to say bigger clubs weren’t preparing bids? Safe to say we **** out with the small fee, especially as Leicester have already stated they expected to pay £10m more than they actually paid for Maguire.

We did a deal to sell Maguire before the window even opened, there was no attempt to start a bidding war, we just shipped him out with the first significant bid we got.
