You can't see the mountains here the smoke is so thick The fires are just 10 miles away lets hope the wind doesnt change.
Can't get near the cabin all roads are closed. I notice the Bears are down in the valley if their eyes are like mine they are stinging.

Fahrenheit? Fahrenheit? Have we slipped back a century and I didn't notice? Or is it a Brexit thing like bent bananas sold by the pound rather than the kilo?

Fahrenheit, Yards, Feet, Inches, Stones, Pounds, Ounces, MPH,.....back to the 1970's....and of course the good old £...best thing we ever did keeping that.

No need to change now, now that we're not going to be part of a Federal States of Europe.

I think daytime temperatures in Centigrade but if someone is ill, I have to know their temperature in Fahrenheit.

Rather like the 20mm chipboard you used to see on sale in 6ft x 4ft sheets!

On the weather forecast tonight they showed Canada and the smoke cloud. Wondered why but the man then said the Gulf Stream might well blow all the smoke and ash across the Atlantic and our way by the weekend. Hang on to your hat BC................be like the Wizard of Oz.

It was a bit chilly down here this morning as well plym. Apparently, and I got this from the Harold so it must be true, there is going to be another ice age this winter. Well a mini one anyway. It's going to be worse than 20 something. Can't remember the year they said. We will get a blast from the East which will last for months. Mind you we have had forecasts of all sorts from the Harold before that have not come true so I'm not about to get out my survival tent just yet. I don't switch on heating until I run out of blankets.

Our Mountain Lakes have started to ice up so no fishing until spring.
Will have to winterize the cabin soon and make it Bear proof.etc.
Snow tyres are ready to install on the car.
Heat now on in the house.
We had a great summer though apart from the forest fires and smoke.

Thing is BC you know that every year you are going to get snow whether it turns up early or late. It will arrive without fail and will be several feet thick as a minimum. We on the other hand never know which one it will be. Sometimes it's a tidal wave of rain, sometimes a flake or two of snow or even a couple of feet every 20 years or so or none of the above. The Harold reports almost weekly that some event is going to happen and it seldom turns up. This past weekend for example was winds of 60 mph or more which would roar in from the West and my house could possibly blow down or even the dustbin lid blow off. We had a bit of a breeze. It was windy one day last week but to be honest even that wasn't exactly scary. I just wish they would wait until they really had something to report and then report it without all the rubbish that they throw in with it. That way we might actually believe it and the one day it really does happen then we would be prepared. At the minute most people just smile and turn over the page.
