By all accounts he had one good season at Monaco where the stars seems to align for them and a lot of players came through. So he's had about 1 good season in 5 or 6. He's the future though apparently;......<whistle>

Yeah it seems every season since then has shown that he doesnt cut the mustard, so we did good getting rid.

Stan is such a gimp isnt he <laugh>

His support for players who havent earnt it is far more baffling to me than his disdain for players who do not deserve it.
I know a few Chelsea fans who arent keen on Alonso, for some reason or other, they dont like his style, which is fine (unless you harp on about it constantly and obsessively like some Stans who shall remain nameless).
But having a raging erection for Bakayoko? Like WTF? Where the **** did that come from? I can count the amount of decent Chelsea performances he had on one hand. Even in his advanced years, Fabregas has offered more than him from the CM position.
Its things like this that make me think Stan is a troll.

Disagree last Season he was good for United. This Season the whole Utd team looks a shambles so it's hard to judge.

Matic and Kante was an excellent midfield, sure it was defensive but it was 'balance' - Kante could roam while Matic sits and protects. Better than the midfield you currently have IMO. If I had that squad I would have looked to get a TOP class No.10/ AMF playmaker in front of them.

    No way.
Better than the one we had last season, definitely.
But Kovacic and Jorginho have been great so far this season.

Yes mate - alot better. It had balance, each player had the attribute the other lacked.

Players like Matic rarely get the credit they deserve. I dont think we will see a Kovacic/Jorginho/Kante midfield win the league - which ultimately says more than our subjective opinions.

Think you didn't watch us enough. With that combo we were scraping wins and both Kante and Matic are great players but both of them cannot spot a pass, thread a ball through the needle or move it quickly (kante is doing this better but is still not great on it). None of those 2 play on the half turn and spray it forward quickly.

As for why that 3 might not win the league, the standards of liverpool and man city are very high right now and the competition is far greater than when we won it in 16-17 plus having Diego Costa as a striker rather than Giroud/Morata made a massive difference.

If we fail to win the league this season, it will be down to having no one decent up front.

Kante and Matic had Diego Costa in front of them.

Our current midfield has Morata.......if anything costs us the title, it will be that, not a failure of our midfield, which has performed brilliantly so far this season.

Lol. Kante and Matic as good as what we’ve got now? No chance.

The midfield we have now is as good as we’ve had since Lampard, Essien, Makelele etc

    This.
Its just a shame kovacic is on loan. By the time we bring in a decent forward, he will likely have ****ed off back to spain :(

It was a more defensive midfield but that worked.(clearly) If you play two defensive mids of course you are not going to be playing the most expansive football but you still scored a decent number of goals and created a decent number of chances. Enough to win the league.

I also initially pointed out that Morata would not get you the goals Costa did. Which is of course a big issue. I'm not doubting that.

    I said 'better than'.

I'll say it again this midfield wont win the league. Matic and Kante were a big component in your last title win.

I actually think we might finish above you.
You guys will be well behind Liverpool and City..

guess we'll just have to disagree.

This midfield is far more balanced but ultimately it is two very different sides with 2 very different tactics. That matic kante combo in Sarris side wouldn't work for us now (or for someone like Pep) but are great for a side like Jose and Conte who are more conservative.

    I prefer this midfield personally.

    BATSHUAYI TO RETURN TO CHELSEA
    Michy Batshuayi
’s loan deal at Valencia will be cut short and the striker will return to Chelsea, Valencia sporting director Mateu Alemany has confirmed.
Alemany says negotiations are ongoing and him leaving the club is only a matter of time. Batshuayi has scored just three goals in 23 appearances for Valencia in all competitions this season.

Another striker we can write off then!!

He was great at Dortmund, yes he has been ****e at Valencia, but to be fair, Valencia have been **** all round this season, they are sitting in 12th at the moment
None of their players have been great.

I'd be willing to give batters a chance to be our fox in the box even though his build up play is a pile of **** but hopefully we can overcome that as long as we ask him to goal hang until he is developed.

Not sure you can let him off with a free ride though, he's a part of the reason valencia have been so bollocks lol. They were good last year

Aye I am not saying he is blame free, but if the midfield have been **** and giving him no service, then it will affect him.

I just hope we dont spend £35m on Higuain, that will be a big mistake.
Juve loaned him out at the beginning of the season to Milan, wtf didnt we try to get him on loan then, I would have taken him on Loan for the season, until we could find the right striker. But I dont think paying £35m for a 31 year old who is untested in the PL is a wise idea.

Could say the same for morata to be honest lol. How often does hazard, willian, pedro cross it to him or slide him in.

He's been a pile of **** but he doesn't get the right service either, half the time its hazard willian alonso passing it around hows he meant to know when to make a run if the ball never goes into the mixer. Only Dave puts balls in constantly and first time and kante.

Morata isn't getting a pass from me though.

I don't want higuain on anything but a loan either. 35m is too much. Also hope we don't get wilson for 50m. Thats continuing on the buying of average players at stupid prices.

    Not really the same.
Morata is getting service, he is getting chances, he just isn't putting them away.
There has been at least half a dozen chances in the last 3 or 4 games where he should have scored and completely fluffed it.
In the last match he skied a shot from 4 yards out, with an open goal ( turns out it wouldnt have counted anyway cos of offside, but still.....)
