It was a large aircraft with a crew of two and it seems the Leicster owner was on board.

First accounts were that it come down immediately after take off from the pitch, crashing into a car park for club staff. Players were still in the ground: Casper Schmeichel was reported to have run out to the crash with 2 policemen until the fire drove them back. Hopefully there was nobody in the cars, if that is where it hit.

Rear rotor failure is being touted as a likely cause as the helicopter spun into the ground.

Generally up to 20 dignitaries on board each time it leaves a match.

Sky news says that the owners son Aiywatt and the Director of Football John Rudkin were not on board.

Just to complete a miserable day, you probably know Glen Hoddle had a heart attack yesterday but a fan also died at the match at Brighton.

Now confirmed that there were 5 fatalities in the helicopter crash one of whom was the billionaire owner. Sad news even if we all knew it already. Given the closeness of the Owner and club it will be hard for them to play on this season even though they will have to. I remember watching the Liverpool v Juventus game all those years ago that had to be played after the mass killings and the demeanour of the Liverpool players and the Hillsborough replay match. They had no heart for it and I suspect the Leicester players and supporters won't have now. The man sounds like a breath of fresh air in terms of club owners. Willing to put his money up front and do a whole lot more for the people who supported the club as well. I can't see Brent ever putting his hand in his pocket for anyone other than himself. How lucky Leicester were and their City. Was a strange old day football wise on Saturday for sure.

To be fair to Brent, this guy was worth £4 billion.

Still, seems he was an exceptional owner and also a generous benefactor to Leicester hospital and university. There were plans for a new training ground and for he ground to be enlarged in the coming years.

Why would I want to be fair to Brent? If he was worth £4 billion he wouldn't be anywhere near Plymouth let alone a football club.

Because James Brent saved Plymouth Argyle from liquidation when nobody else would and has passed it on to Hallett in a solvent state, one league higher than when he took it on and with the stadium refurbishment permitted, financed and underway. That's why you should be grateful.

"Nobody else would". And you know that nobody else would how exactly? I have no faith that any of the Administrators told even a half truth or did diddly squat when they were here racking up the pay from the carcus. We don't know if the club was even touted on any sort of market to attract any other suitor let alone if there was anyone out there. Yes the club is stable but I give little credit for anything financial to Brent in that. I still maintain he spent nothing even at the outset and will walk away with cash in his pocket so why would I be that grateful.

You see conspiracies everywhere Sensible. Mostly, life is exactly what it looks like.

The administrators were doing their job, as they ways do. The previous consortium were dodgy, had been rumbled and had vanished.

There was no White Knight on his way. We were at best weeks and at worst days from oblivion.

It was what it looked like.

Sorry notdistant still not convinced and to be fair you don't know any of that for sure do you. Why didn't Brent pay the Administrators their fee? I mean if they were doing their job "as they always do" then why didn't they hold out for their pound of flesh. I'll conceed the previous consortium were dodgy. Sometimes the conspiracy theorists are nearer the mark than given credit for. I should add I doubt I will ever be convinced with this subject anymore than you would.

I actually don't care about Brent walking away with cash Joe. That isn't and has never been the issue with me. It's the making out the man did it for some higher reason for the people of Plymouth and the good of all mankind. The Leicester guy clearly was that sort but for sure Brent isn't and never will be. Brent saw an opportunity to make a few quid and rope in PCC and he took it. Business is business so I don't blame him for having a go. He may look like the meek sort with his Harry Potter specs and quiet voice but don't be fooled anyone. I might actually give him a round of applause if he ever actually builds something he promised to do. Anyone seen an Ice Rink anywhere?

But it's Hallett's loan money that is building most of that.....the problem really is that James Brent is actually a "poor" rich man and cannot afford to do much at all.

A lot of his businesses have not been flourishing, and have gone to the wall in recent years....and the only high street one I've come across...Saltrock seems to always be in a state of having a "sale" going on.....looks in a state of continual desperation....every year we go to Bournemouth and visit Poole his shop there has always had a sale on and that is during the summer, it's high season for sales surely. Many have closed and what is happening with the rest.....has he sold them off....I think maybe I recollect that I've heard something along those lines ?

His projects have never been built.....you do get the feeling if you showed him a brick, a trowel and cement he would need the smelling salts offered him.

Ok he did at Argyle the basics that he said he would do....so thank you Mr Brent for that....7 years is long enough.....but the family name is still involved so it seems on the board.

Yes Plym, he brought in somebody willing and able to finance the project and who has done so without lumbering the club with any external debt. Contracts have been signed and work is underway.

Property development isn't about trowel and cement. Construction companies do that, a different breed. Property developers put together land, permits, tenants for the completed site, money and contractors. Typically, once the project is complete, if not before, they sell the project on to financial institutions or commercial landlords.

In what way hasn't Brent done what property developers do?

I don't know much about his business dealings but as regards Saltrock, I'll just mention BHS, ToysRUs, House of Frazer, Poundworld, Maplins, Jaeger, Staples, Banana Republic, Specsavers, Austin Reed, Beales and Brantano. It's hard times on the high street: there's this new thing called the internet where people do their shopping. Funnily enough, that has an impact on property development too.

Not distant.....there is talk of a drain problem that hasn't yet been given the ok ....the drainage has been done up to the ground...but not as yet within Home Park because of not being signed off by PCC for work to commence ?

He has done nothing he promised or even started out to do with any building he has taken on. I might be part of the hard of understanding brigade as far as business stuff is concerned but I reckon I can spot a ducker and diver when I see one. We were at one time promised a £10m grandstand with all the trimmings which would secure the finances of the Club. What we have is a mish mash of others financing a half hearted refurbishment of the Grandstand with a fraction of the trimmings to finance the club from here on in. The Ice Rink was another promise which hasn't popped up anywhere. Torquay's Mansion never got off the ground. No wonder they wouldn't let him anywhere near the Civic Centre building. Why aren't PCC as in love with the man as they once might have been? Answers on a postcard please.

As I've so parroted before, only perhaps 1 in 10 potential property deals actually happen. And I have some close experience of property development and construction contracts related to it. although neither are my specific profession . So........ when I say 1 in 10.....

Aaron Banks, the Trumpist funder of the Brexit Leave campaign has been referred to the National Crime Agency in relation to "suspected criminal offences" during the referendum.

About time too: the police have been sitting on their hands over this for far too long.
