Can’t agree. Neither are in the class of average for holding onto the ball but neither are they in the class of Perez. As a guide count the number of times you see Perez on the floor during a match and that’s usually your starting off number for the times he has lost the ball.
He is around that quality... but as an impact player who would come on to try and nab a goal, not a starting AM. I mean, he brings very little in terms of assists, even in the championship. Gross provided 8 assists last season and Perez has provided 8 assists in 3 and a bit years. Let's face it, he's a poacher who contributes nothing other than ghosting into a game (sometime a season) from nowhere and scoring a couple, before disappearing again. He should not be in a starting line up linking-up play.
Perez should be dropped in favour of a mid 3 of Shelvey infront Diame and Ki. Personally I'd start Perez up top over Rondon but that's another story.
Solano was as lightweight as Perez when he arrived. He spent 12-18 months achieving jack **** and eating turf. He eventually sorted it out though. Perez could too if he'd just learn to release the ball at the right time. Silvio Maric would run him close for falling over. Aside from him I can't remember as big a pussy as Perez.
I'd like to point out that I didn't slate the guy.... Truth is that he blows hot and cold. It's his inconsistency that means we'll keep him. He did the same last season too, was below par far ages and then had a very good 2-3 months later in the season. For me he is good enough for our first team and if he was consistent would be good enough for a club aiming higher. That's a big if though.
