For the first Saturday afternoon in several it shouldn't be blowing a gale at Home Park weather wise for this fixture so it might actually come down to who plays the bestist football in the game. You never know Macey might even be able to kick a ball straight. So, the form book shows over recent time that Accrington have a worse record than we have. Now there are not that many who we can say that about so it has to mean something. Their position is a fair few places higher than our's but it lends itself more to early season form than recent and their form has definately slipped. When we were going through our "can't win a game for toffees" period me and my gang had a look at the fixture lists and tried to decide which game would start our winning streak. My son picked this one. He couldn't see us winning any before now. Yes he is know as Ye of little faith even if I didn't call him Thomas at birth. To be fair most of us actually agreed with him although there was a suggestion we might not even win this one as Accrington were doing very well both home and away. Well, as it turns out I think we can win this one and will have everything crossed we do. A long shot is we might just slip out of the relegation zone if we do so what more incentive do the players need. Still not convinced it will be an easy game as I haven't seen an easy game with Argyle winning this season. Seen a few easy defeats though. Ever positive as you know, the form book says we can win so win it is. COYG (what could possibly go wrong)
Accrington did have a flying start...but they are really struggling at present....lets hope Saturday doesn't kick-start their season again.
Lets hope it kick starts our's though. It's been really strange this season so far. Argyle have been pants more often than good but they do show signs that they can play at times. It's being a bit consistant that is required and not consistantly bad of course. We play in some games and look quite good and maybe a couple of games go by where we pick up a few points and a win only for the ass to fall out of it all again. We really need a Christmas fixture list that is kind to us with a run of results worth having.
Picked up tickets this morning. Biggish crowd expected apparently... what no Christmas shopping to do?
Should be close to 10k tomorrow, although I understand that Acrrington haven't sold many 45(?) and thirty of those were comps for the players. 'You could have come in a taxi' etc Scruffy game, 3-0, I thank you.
I've just read an article in the harrold quoting Derek. The question posed is what Argyle need to do in the second half of the season to improve the position. He has come up with the notion that Argyle must improve defensively. No **** Sherlock the man is an absolute genius. I think he has a sniff of the Man U job and is making quotes to cement their interest in him. News flash for Mr Adams. The know nothing supporters have been telling you this for months now. Doh!!!!
That's nearly on the same level as the recent study (probably cost £millions) that said regular exercise can keep your cholesterol level down....phew why didn't I think of that....could have saved that study £millions.....
0-3...F/T.....and a happy Christmas to you Derek Adams,......strewth...how bad can it get...... From 20th at halftime....to 23rd at full time.....so Messi, Ronaldo and FOUR defenders coming in next month....but we're still aiming only for 20th.
So we lose 3-0 to mighty Accrington Stanley...who have no supporters.....no money, and who have 4pts from their last seven games...before today of course. January sales....the following on the clear out list. Riley...........not good enough. Smith-Brown.........not good enough. Edwards.........not the same player any more. Moore..........not good enough. Canavan.........not good enough. Dyson........Adams obviously doesn't rate him. Fox.........sad to say that, but he isn't up to the job anymore. Wylde.........only a standby full back ? Ainsworth........not good enough. and Derek Adams..........not good enough either on present form.
We were never 3 goals worse than them but against a side who hadn'relegation taken a single point in 6 away games, this a mind bendingly bad result. Although we look better in defence with Riley and Sawyer, I never felt we were containing their mobile forwards. If we'd scored first from the generous number of chances we made, we could have won 3-0. But we didn't and they did. Songo'o saved what looked a certain goal by literally hurling himself at an attacker. The Demport End sang his name. I didn't know there was a song for that and it tells you how far he's come. I'd have had Ladapo off at half time and rearranged around Taylor. It's the first time I've thought that: it just wasn't happening for Freddie. The worrying thing is we still don't seem to know our best team.... Fox fell from his usual excellent contribution and you wonder if moving Carey into midfield with Jephcott and Grant wide suits him. He easily won Tackle of the Day with the one he was booked for which could easily have been a red Sent from my mobile phone - E&OE
