Saints welcome Derby County to St Mary’s for the first time since 18th February 2012 for this FA Cup 3rd Round replay. We all remember that Championship game, when Tadanari Lee first showed off his “lightning” celebration to the home crowd after his brilliant goal. Other scorers in that 4-0 drubbing were Jos Hooiveld, Aaron Martin, and Adam Lallana. Unusually for that season in such a one-sided game neither Rickie Lambert or Billy Sharp got goals that day.

Both teams will want to progress in the FA Cup, although for different reasons both will have an eye on next weekend’s league fixtures. Saints will be hoping to consolidate yesterday’s brilliant victory over Leicester by beating Everton on Saturday and continuing to pull away from the relegation zone. Derby, on the other hand, will be keen to keep their place in the Championship playoff positions with a home win against Reading.

I can’t see Ralph Hasenhüttl making wholesale changes, although Angus Gunn might well come back between the sticks. Yan Valery and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg are both suspended for this match, so it’s likely that Cedric Soares will start at RWB. The rest of the defence, I am sure, will be unchanged, but it’ll be interesting to see who is selected as the DM pairing. Will the Romeu/JWP pairing which worked brilliantly yesterday continue, or will we see Mario Lemina return? Up front goal machine Shane Long has surely earned another start, probably alongside Nathan Redmond and Stuart Armstrong. Again, expect to see a clutch of newly-hatched Academy fledglings on the bench.

    Officials:
    Referee: Anthony Taylor
Assistant Referees: Adam Nunn & Neil Davies
    Fourth Official: Graham Scott
    VAR: David Coote
    AVAR: Daniel Robathan

Whereas I'm expecting a totally different side. Not because Ralph would ideally want to, but because we've just played over 45 mins with 10 men and we play Everton just three days later. Ralph has very recently seen first hand against West Ham the impact of tired players. I don't think he'd want to suffer that again, vs Everton.

On the assumption that Bertand and Lemina won't be risked, and Hoedt isn't selectable, maybe something like:

    Gunn
    Cedric Ramsay Stephens Targett
    Ely JWP Slatterly Sims
    Long Gallagher

JWP can play, because PEH will be back for Everton and maybe Lemina. Likewise Long, because Austin and maybe Ings will be back. Likewise Targett, because of Bertrand.

Worth putting Redmond and Armstrong on the bench, just in case.

Is this PEH's last missed game?

Yes, he was sent off against Man City, so he’s missed Chelsea, Derby, Leicester, and now Derby again. Back for Everton.

It's gone surprisingly quickly and I think we've coped pretty well without him really. Will be glad to have him back though.

Wasn't Tadanari's celebration an "archer" pose?

Please put out a reasonably strong team Ralph. I'd go with:

    Gunn
    Cedric Bednarek Stephens Targett
    Elyounoussi JWP Romeu Sims
    Long Gallagher

This is the beginning of a run of home games (five out of our next seven fixtures) against opposition that we should be competitive against. Time to build some momentum.

Yes completely agree. Ralph will rest players, with the exception of Vestergaard as he doesn’t move much.

I'm pretty sure Sims can't play because he was registered a reading player for the original tie.

It was a bit disappointing to learn that not all of the stadum will be opened up. The chapel is closed and therefore I need to relocate.

I find it quite sad that there is not such a demand for FA cup tickets. I grew up in the era whn this was something no team wanted to lose. There was almost a stigma if you went out to lower league opposition. I welcome the price reduction but it is sad that, in light of the recent improved performances, there is insufficient demand for this match.

I would have gone to it if it wasn't a weekday . 19.45 is just such an awkward time on a workday.
