You know it’s ironic. Just the other day I said that based on performances so far, either Son, Kane or Sissoko will win our POTS.

We’re now potentially going to be without all three for a while. Just couldn’t make this **** up if you tried.

He does. Apart from the bloke at Liverpool, who must have some incriminating photos of the Bournemouth chairman, no one handles the money side better.

Time for your 4th choice, Winks, to smash it ;)

I’m not disputing that the club has come a long long way since Enic took over. I’m old enough to remember the days when a good season was 10th and a half decent cup run.

My point is that we can’t afford to pay new signings the mega bucks that our rivals do but we pay our chairman more than any of our rivals do.

Either we have the money to pay big wages or we don’t?

Ask the fans of Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Southampton, West Ham, etc. whether they'd pay him that to run their clubs.

10 years ago they were our competitors. In that time we've finished 5 times in the Top 4. Collectively, they've done it zero times.

Their fans'd sell their wives and kids for our team, new stadium and a place in the CL group, let alone the KO phase.

It’s true ain’t it? I’ve been cursed with RCLism. I’ve done it a few times this season and thought it was just coincidence but it’s now hit me I’ve got the disease.

Most of it was one-off bonuses for targets met and he earns less than HK or MP but I guess it depends upon how myopic we're going to be...

This is over simplified imo...£8m per year equals £153,000 per week...
Are you saying that this money would change things?

In the money stupid wotld of football that is not a high end wage <yikes>
Levy is hugely paid...if he weren't he could well go else where...and like I said taking ALL his wage would make little if any difference...only it would leave us needing a volunteer Chairman.
TBH...(and I honestly ain't being rude) complaining about levys wage is like complaining about Pochettino's one.

Of course the chairman should earn less than the star striker and manager, that goes without saying doesn’t it? My point was that he earns more than any other chairman in the richest league in the world. Yet we are told that the budget can finance paying big wages to new signings.

    How is that myopic?

He's on a reward bonus for progressing the stadium and achieving CL football. It's not his standard wage. The previous season he earned £2.8m.

The players are all on sizeable win bonuses, possibly up to 50% of their standard wage. Should DL not be on similar?

He's achieved incredible results and has been handsomely rewarded. Fair play to him. What we pay him is a small drop in the ocean of the added value he brings to the club. That's what's myopic. If he hadn't turned the club around financially and built the stadium, what do you think our future would look like?

Years ago we had a bloke in charge of our merchandising section...he was pretty poorly paid in market terms by the then board led by Irving Scholar ... the bloke (can not remember his name) had new and innovative ideas about how to build up the "brand" but wanted better pay. The club refused and he was easily persuaded to join united and made a huge impact on the revenue from the sale of club merchandise

I do not justify the stupid wages attached to football...imho they are completely obscene...I find it a joke that Rose is paid more in a week than I will be paid in 5 years yet complained about not getting what he is worth.

However if you wish to keep your best players, managers, chairman then you pay them the going football rate.

We pay him £153,000 per week due to his results...that has next to no impact (if any) on what we can afford to spend on players and their wages.

    You’re still missing my point.

Levy doesn’t get the going rate for chairman though. He’s the top earner in the whole league.

Admittedly we only have one chairman but why can we pay him the big bucks but not players?

Maybe I’m old school but on the pitch is the most important place still.

This is where i think you are wrong.

Of course you can't go toe to toe financially. Where you can go toe to toe is that you have a fantastic coach who improves players and gets the best out of them within his system. Man for man, you could argue you are as good as any of the top clubs and even your squad is a lot stronger than it was. You are there or there abouts really but your CMs was always one of your weak areas

It will be interesting to see how the next few years go as you are finally starting to increase everyones wages and before long, you will be similar to other teams in that you will have to make sure you qualify for the CL to service the wages.

“And Rose makes a run down the wing, he plays it into Eriksen who slips a great pass to the opposite flank where Moura is waiting, Moura slips past one, he goes past another, he lays it off to Winks who’s by the penalty spot and he plays a fantastic pass...

    ... Back to Vertonghen”.

Must admit I have no issue with Levy’s wage.

The person at the top of a company will always generally earn the most. Not sure why it should be any different for a football chairmen.

I’m a massive Levy fan, has done a **** load of good for us yet still gets some unfair stick even if there are times he doesn’t help himself either (the Grealish scenario being one) but hey, nobody’s perfect. Ultimately there’s no one else I’d rather in charge of Spurs. I would like him to try and get a bit of business done this January though, it’s not even a case of wanting signings, we need them now.
