The ITV news spent about the first 10 minutes or so tonight interviewing a bloke what pulled him out of the vehicle having rescued the baby from the other vehicle and checked on the other two passengers. Bleddy Hero he was. With all that is going on in this country currently I frankly don't give a monkeys about a crash with no victims no matter who was in one of them. I think notdistant is right it was MAY who caused it as a cover up. At that age the stupid old bugger shouldn't have been driving anyway.

Why do people always think workers in the public sector should never get paid high salaries or pensions? Some of those jobs are really really important and highly skilled. If they worked in the private sector on something similar in importance then nobody much would bat an eyelid and they would have been paid more. I have 2 pensions from working. One is the service pension and the other for local government. I get a reasonable sum each month and it is plenty to live on. I paid for both of those pensions and they most definately are not free. If I had been in the Merchant Navy I would have been paid a load more for my time. If I had worked for a private sector Housing organisation I would on average have earned £5000 a year more. I think I earned my pensions as no doubt the Civil Servants have.
Public sector pension costs are very high: I've seen schemes in which employer contributions are 》30% of salary. However, the benefits they pay are more in line with what pensioners need and deserve after a lifetime paying-in themselves. Once upon a time, private sector pensions were pretty decent too but over the years, a combination of government reducing the tax reliefs for pension schemes and employers failing to make contributions while investment performance was booming have conspired to produce a wholly inadequate system. I'm lucky in being in the last generation to benefit from good DB pensions. From here on in, pensioners are going to end up starving on the streets. Future governments will rue the pension tax raids started by Gordon Brown and their failure to force private sector employers to make a safe minimum contribution in good years as well as bad. Both sides of the Brexit debate are showing frustration at Theresa May not really listening to what they say....but hold on isn't that par for the course with her. When she was Home Secretary wasn't that exactly what the Police Federation were saying year after year....when she spoke at Federation Conferences wasn't it the situation that they were hardly on speaking terms with her as she slashed their budget and thousands of police staff were cut. Bring all that up to date and it is noticeable how police on the beat/streets have become a rarity. Crime around this area isn't too bad....but it is becoming noticeable that shops are being broken into by boarded up doors or windows.....two that I have been in recently....one a Bakers/small general store....the till in view of window open and empty and a sign saying no cash left over night...nothing obviously taken...the owner said that it might be 5 or 6 days before the door glass will be replaced....because of the back-log of similar jobs that they have to do.....the other a Dry Cleaners....boarded up door....the only thing taken was two charity boxes on the counter......the end result for both will be a crime number from the police for insurance purposes....and no follow up from the police....so these criminals know that there is no chance of them being caught........8 months back in the day time a neighbour siding on to an alleyway heard noises at the back of his property when he checked there was a fellow trying to break his patio windows....he tapped on the window and asked the fellow what he was doing.....the fellow stood there and two fingered him and casually walked off and climbed back over the 6ft fence back into the alley.....30 hours later a policeman popped in to check it out....end of story. Plus the automated telephone calls telling you that your internet had been compromised and that they were a nationwide agency there to help you over the problem......or an insurance company following up on your recent car accident....which of course you haven't had....just playing on the vulnerable and easy conned in our society....lots of people don't know which way to turn in this age....and you do hear of vigilante groups forming to patrol their area because the police are unable to help....and not available even to answer the telephone. Downsizing our Police Force so that they haven't the staff for the basics is par for this government.....and then there is our armed forces....some other time maybe....time to go out.
BC.....Do you know of Michael Portillo and his railway journeys TV programme on the BBC. This week he is travelling west to east across Canada....today he left Vancouver heading to Kamloops and he went walking in bear country...with his bear spray of course....fantastic scenery from his train....interesting programme.
Yes we did see that program, we would like to do that one day on the train, but very expensive A lot cheaper to drive for us, We drive Banff to Jasper stopping at the Ice Fields on the way. We used to camp it with tents etc. but getting too old for that now. Renting a Motor Home is the way to go, but even that is not cheap anymore. Living here in the Fraser Valley we have mountains on three sides of us. White against the blue sky. I will be golfing tomorrow temp. 11C.

I have happy hour most nights BC. Just pop to the fridge and open a bottle I just happen to have in there. I don't blame you for the do as much thing in all seriousness. Me and mine are a bit restricted at the moment because she is having eye injections every 6 weeks or so and her sight is going south. We try to plan a bit of a trip here or there but sometimes it's difficult. Going abroad for us now is a lot harder because she can't see as much these days. There are plenty of places we haven't been in the UK so at least there are options but as said takes a bit of planning around family and treatments. I'm a bit philisophical now and we do what we can if we can and I just accept it if we can't. ps. I am currently sipping a glass of white as I type. It's still not yet midnight here so I might just be sipping another one in a minute.

I'm disgusted by the deals which are being struck to buy individual MPs support for the Brexit plan I return for tax payers money being spent in their constituencies. Which ever side of the Brexit debate you are on, Government spending should be allocated on the basis of need and then social & economic benefit to the country as a whole. Parts of the South West are as poor as anywhere but are being ignored because there are no "swing vote" MPs, just as the rest of the time we're ignored because there are no Con/Lab marginals. There is still no money for A303 improvements and serious attempts to stop the region's main railway line washing away at Dawlish. This is bribery, pure and simple. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S9
