I've got a conundrum for you.....

Q.....When is it warmer when it's colder....and when is it colder when it's warmer.

A.....When it's warmer, it is because... the heating's frost protection has come on in the loft and the radiators have come on during the night although the thermostat setting is off.
.......and therefore when it's colder, it is because the outdoors temperature is warmer and the frost protection hasn't come on.

......So with the radiator turned off at night in the bedroom, when you come out into the hallway in the morning you know by the temperature in the hall if it is colder or warmer outdoors.

Sorry...I'm at a loose end at the moment.

PS.....I see the brickies are hard at work this morning doing the new changing rooms at Home Park.

Also, there seems to be a big block wall going up at the back of what I call the Mayflower Terrace.

I presume that will form the back of the new steeper Lower Grandstand seated area, possibly with windows above into the catering/hospitality/conferencing areas under the main grandstand.

Had a chat with someone who works for the Halifax this morning about what is happening there at the moment.

My local branch, quite a large one is closing early today.....reason is staff shortages....not enough staff to keep open beyond 3pm.

Nearby (12miles) the Halifax in Sevenoaks....which is a middle/upper class area, has for quite a few weeks been open less than two full days every week and because it looks abandoned has had a window broken and boarded up for over a month.

I assume that these are not isolated cases from what this Halifax employee has told me....they work part-time and have been asked to do lots of extra shifts to cover for lack of staff.

The reason I'm told is that Lloyds (Halifax's bosses) did a big reshuffle recently and laid off a lot of staff.....the end result is that they have got it drastically wrong on staffing numbers for the Halifax....I find it hard to believe that this can happen and that a branch in affluent Sevenoaks can literally be nearly shut down.

They want you to do your own Banking and online plym. They will keep chipping away until there is no choice in the matter. When that happens my account will close the same day. I will put any money I have anywhere that isn't making me do online stuff. If there isn't one then I will draw all of my cash out and stick it in a tin under the bed if necessary. I refuse to be made to do it their way only.

All my Kids use the Online Banking System. and guess what so do I now. You can even cash a cheque now by scanning it to the Bank.
I rarely go into a bank now.
That's the way i see it.

They would let you in if you took the mask off BC....................

I have never had a problem with my account remaining mine yet both my offspring have had a problem or two because of the way they shop and bank online. I prefer to have a person serve me and refuse to be dealt with by a machine that sometimes say no. Same applies to shopping and self service check outs. Old fashioned yes but I am unlikely to change now.

The case of the guy found guilty of manslaughter for allowing his unqualified female companion to pilot his speedboat on the Thames and crash it into a bridge, costing her life, rumbles on. His solicitor has received yobbish death threats, one adorned with a swastika and another reminding him to remember murdered anti-Brexit MP Jo Cox.

It's redolent those yobs who make it their business to insist on social media that the father of Madeline McCann was the perverted culprit despite the thousands of hours of Portuguese and British police time put into investigating the case, in which I'm sure he was a prominent person of interest to start with.

Paedophiles and paediatricians all over again.

I don't have very much sympathy for this chap, who was clearly just showing off to impress a female he'd just met, but I can't help wondering whether, if a woman had owned a speedboat and, reversing the facts, had allowed a unqualified male to pilot it, she have been charged with manslaughter. Personally, I suspect it would have been put down to an idiot male killing himself and risking her life to boot. Equality of the sexes? Pah!

I'm starting to get a nervous twitch in one of my eyes over political correctness and health and safety things.

Today health and safety came to the front of the queue......We went to Knole Park as usual today only to find that it was shut to cars entering and all parts of the National Trust property was closed (accept for walkers).

Reason given was "extreme weather" (notice on gate)......we had a little snow overnight....no more than an inch I would say....the roads were all in excellent condition the weather was wall to wall sunshine...no clouds anywhere....temperature about 39F.....great day for a walk. So we parked in the town (expensive) and walked in and had an enjoyable walk......we could see no earthly reason for Knole to be closed.....I can only assume that they're scared of anyone having an accident because of the minimal snow fall over night, who the hell knows.

Later back in Sevenoaks we went into Café Nero for a drink and a snack....as you entered there was one of those yellow plastic signs warning you that the floor might be slippery just inside the door....ok the pavements were a little wet and slightly slushy.

We sat not far from this sign and in a 15 minute period three or four people came in not seeing it directly in front of them and stumbled over it (too busy talking to their companions etc)....so a health and safety sign obviously to protect Nero's from customers suing them nearly caused an accident....made me smile

My local Halifax is a good place to go to cheer yourself up.

This morning I popped in to get some cash out...I was sitting inside organizing myself....and one of the staff walked past with two sheets of A4 paper and stuck them to the two doors.

They said....'Push to open'....I said to the lady why are you putting that up.....her reply was....because we've turned the automatic system off (cold day ?)....and we had one customer earlier walk into the door....and earlier than that we had another customer that was wandering about outside and looking in waiting for us to open...thinking because the doors didn't open that we where closed.

I said to her, I don't know how us old uns have survived so long....do you realize that we had to open doors always because that's how you get through them....I'm not sure if she realized if I was joking or not....is it becoming an idiots world ...and thinking that I have to push a door to get through it is some sought of new science.

PS.....Just imagine some customer bouncing off that door and smashing his £1000 I-phone against the un-opening glass....who is to blame.....I would have thought his expensive I-phone would have bleeped a warning for him.....god forbid that he would have to think about opening it......:headbang::headbang::headbang:.

Left all alone on a Friday night - awww. So watching West Ham v almost-dead-and-buried Fulham.

Fulham miss a golden chance very early on but then go 0-1 up. Hernandez then blatantly and deliberately handles the ball in to make it 1-1, turning the tide.

I hate VAR but what's to stop such cheating?

Now 2-1 to West Ham, goals change games, and with tough fixtures coming up, Fulham look multi-million dead-and-gone.

Can't change the result but what's to stop the likes of Hernandez being penalised retrospectively on video evidence?

Finishes 3-1. Equaliser was a travesty but Fulham really need to play a goalkeeper if they are to stay up.
