our lack of consistency since Xmas is proving to be costly. Norwich have won their last eight or nine, Sheffield have had something like seven clean sheets in last eight games. During that time, we’ve bounced from excellent to abject, seldom stringing two similar performances together. No idea why as it’s been basically the same personnel in every game. Maybe it’s nerves. One things for sure, we’ve all but run out of get out of jail cards and nothing short of five wins from last six will be good enough. Pointless constantly hoping for Sheffield to falter if we’re not consistently performing. We’ve a couple of regular starters who have not been good enough far too often, but don’t intend to name them For obvious reasons. Not hard to spot
I do think some of it comes down to luck. Norwich have won 8 on the bounce but have fielded the same team. No injuries or suspensions. Leeds have every chance of finishing n the top two and Leeds Norwich and Sheffield United deserve promotion as the best three teams in the division. That said I am amazed that United have kept up this far. Good luck for the rest of the season and hopefully see you in the Prem next season
Fair play Norfolk. You've more or less achieved promotion and TBF your club have deserved it and have been the most consistent throughout the season. Unless we fold in the next few weeks, it should be a battle between us, the blades and WBA for second spot. My nerves can't take the play offs.
To be fair, after yesterday’s result at mil wall, West Brom are gone. They’re 7 behind Sheffield and a far worse goal difference so both Sheffield and us would need to lose 3 from last 6 games and wba would have to win all theirs to get second
I think a lot of it is nerves and expectation. Bamfords missed chances have proved very costly, a few more twists and turns to come yet.
I'm just being cautious Eire. We've some horrible games coming up. Brentford, Preston away, A yorkshire derby, Villa. Wigan we should beat and a relegated Ipswich who can play without any pressure.
Don’t think it matters much who we play at present Shakos. We’re Jekyll and Hyde. Liable to beat villa 4 nil and lose then to Ipswich
We are not quite good enough. This is a season when no one is a stand out. Norwich are now starting to edge above 2.0 points a game but only just, and only recently. Yet we still can’t quite manage it. I don’t want to name players either. I actually think more than a couple are not good enough, quite a few, and this has been covered up by 1) some players being very good indeed (again I won’t name them) and 2) the fitness/method of play/teamwork. Although you could want all sorts of things, i believe a genuinely outstanding striker would have made the difference. There’s a reason that sort of player is so expensive. I think it’s playoffs, though I’m not giving up, we could still hit a good patch again.
I really fear the Brentford game Haven't won there in 60 years Small pitch Good home record The bees always seem to have little players with pace buzzing around us, we can't cope with teams that run at us Dreading it
The only thing missing from our last 3 games are Bamfords goals. He has missed at least 10 goals in those 3 games and must be having sleepless nights. We are still creating more chances than anyone but our conversion rate is shocking
Another area we are falling well short, is set pieces,Pablo/Alioski most of the time take shocking corners, over hit or not beating first man,as for free kicks, what happened to our new free kick specialist Douglas,he couldn't kick my granny
What has Bamford got as a striker that you or me havent. I know Id miss ten chances in three games if I could get near the ball
