I think a lot depends on what happens with the squad over the summer.

The CG quota can actually be improved next season as we'll have more options available via ageing academy players (should some be kept). Right now I think Kane, Winks and Rose are classed as CG (Rose joined at 17 so I'm sure he qualifies). Next season we could also have Whiteman (replacing Vorm), KWP who'd need to be registered and also potentially any one of CCV, Onomah, Amos and Georgiou, with CCV being the most likely seeing as Toby is probably off and Foyth may have a better future at DM/ RB. So I think there is scope, should the club choose, to sell someone like Winks. For what it's worth I know it won't happen but I just think it's the best choice to make as I think his injuries are too much of a problem, although I'd only sell the likes of Wanyama, Winks and Lamela once we actually have players in, I wouldn't want any sold without players being in through door already.
There are people that need to go long before those three though; Aurier, GK and Janssen need to be shot of plus Vorm and Llorente whose deals expire.

To be honest I can't see Amos lasting much longer at the club. Yes he's contracted for a couple more years, but he signed that contract extension a couple of months after his ACL tear and he would've been out of contract this summer, so it's most likely he'll be loaned out next season to get him into the shop window

Yeah agree. Besides he's had one or two injuries at youth level too IIRC, so he's hardly any more reliable than those I've already listed as injury prone.

Think CCV has the best chance, seems to have got settled into the Swansea side, played well against City despite having the penalty given against him (which was the wrong call) and I think this could be a make or break summer/ season for him. Poch once said he had all the minerals to be a top Prem CB, time to backup that statement.

The problem with CCV is that, at present, he's our fifth-choice CB - and with talk of Joachim Andersen coming in that means he won't be moving up the ranks even if Toby leaves, which begs the question if he really wants to hang around another season where his chances of starting games boil down to a handful of cup games and maybe a low priority league game or two if there's a team having a season as bad as Huddersfield have this season, or maybe holding on in the belief that if Verts heads back to Ajax when his contract expires he'll be fourth-choice

For me Georgiou seems to have a decent chance of getting into the squad...albeit in a similar role to GKN where we spend large chunks of the season forgetting that he's there - although he probably won't be there for long, as not only do Shashoua and Bennett play in his position, but we're also being linked with various Championship prospects in his position such as Daniel James and Jack Clarke

None of those players have demonstrated that they're anywhere near the level that Winks is at.
Onomah's struggled at Championship level, Amos is plagued with injuries and Georgiou's barely featured for Levante B.

Whiteman isn't 21 until October either, so there's no need to register him. He could probably do with a loan for regular football, anyway.
Picking up someone like David Button from Brighton on the cheap might be an idea, as he's club and home grown and won't expect to start.
Plenty of experience if we have to call on him, but not likely to throw a wobbly if he's left out.

I think a lot depends on Foyth too, will he remain a CB or is Poch looking to turn him into a RB (or possibly a DM as some have mentioned)? If that proves to be the case then next season, if Toby does indeed go as expected, CCV could be fourth choice even if Andersen arrives which should in theory still mean he’ll have significant opportunities, Jan isn’t getting any younger either so it’s hard to tell if he’ll be available to play as much next season which further opens the door for more opportunities for someone like CCV.

We wouldn’t need to directly replace him with one of Onomah or Amos though, I was just using those as potential examples of who could fill the CG quota. Say theoretically KWP and CCV become part of the squad, along with Kane and Rose, that’s the CG quota sorted. The club can then focus on bringing in the desired level of CM(s) we’ve been craving.

Winks, Wanyama and even Dier are likely facing a reduced role next season providing Sissoko remains fit and we sign a top CM as expected. It’d make sense to sell at least one of them as game time will be limited for whoever is seen as fifth choice. Of Winks, Wanyama and Dier, Wanyama would be the first to go in my eyes as he’s most prone to injury and his position is covered by Dier plus the fact Sissoko has been an all-in-one this season, though I wouldn’t be against the idea of selling Wanyama AND Winks if we’ve signed a couple of CMs.

Am I the only one who believe that Toby just might stay?

Truth is, will he be happy at places like Man Utd or the likes? Surely it's not always about the salary?

For him I think it is. We offered £130k which would’ve made him one of the best paid CBs in Europe. Supposedly wants £180k, only Ramos, Silva and VVD earn more/ equal than that I think.

If it wasn't for his pathetically low release clause, I'd be inclined to agree. There aren't a great many clubs in the world who'd interest him. And of those, fewer still would be interested in a player who is now the wrong side of 30 and has had his fair share of hamstring tweaks...unless it is possible to sign him for relative peanuts, which it is, thanks to the release clause.

For him I suspect tis the classic 'salary greed wrapped in CL/silverware angst' claim.
If Spurs win the CL I could see him leaving anyway.
No problem with that, providing the destination club is not in the PL.

Hmm. So lets say you sign him on a four year deal and pay him £150k per weak. That's about £32m. The release clause nearly doubles the cost. So by signin g it Toby has given away £25m he could have had instead......

There was a rumour a while back that PSG were willing to offer a swap deal of Toby for Meunier, which I would definitely be agreeable to

Yes well our beloved physios said he was "fine" too, then he vomited on the pitch and almost collapsed before being carried to safety.

    Bunch of ****ers.

    Good news

...especially for our physio team, who were surely expecting the sack if it turned out he did have a concussion

That is good news indeed. I imagine he'll be rested at the weekend and will play next week.
