Hull City's transfer plans could see up to a dozen new players signed this summer The Tigers are braced for another summer of changes at the KCOM Stadium Hull City have drawn up plans to sign as many as 12 new players this summer as they prepare for another squad overhaul ahead of 2019-20. The Tigers’ Championship campaign concludes with the visit of Bristol City on Sunday lunchtime but thoughts have already turned to a close season that promises to transform the current squad. It is understood several targets have already been identified, with the search predominantly focused on the free agent and loan markets. Any financial backing is likely to hinge on City cashing in on assets, such as Jarrod Bowen and Markus Henriksen. Although the future of head coach Nigel Adkins is yet to be finalised ahead of his contract expiring on June 30, Darnbrough and his scouting network have been briefed to plug the gaps set to appear across a squad that will aim to secure a top-half finish when this season ends on Sunday. David Marshall, Evandro, Fraizer Campbell and Liam Ridgewell will move on unless contract extensions are offered, while the out-of-favour Will Keane, Ondrej Mazuch, James Weir will also be allowed to leave as free agents. There has been no moves made to sign either Todd Kane or Chris Martin on permanent deals and Marc Pugh, signed on loan in January, has already returned to Bournemouth after suffering a broken toe last week. Heavy cuts to City’s budget in the wake of Premier League parachute payments ceasing also invites question marks over Bowen, Henriksen and Kamil Grosicki. Selling Bowen could bank in the region of £15m and offloading Henriksen and Grosicki would also shed two of the club’s highest earners. That could leave as few as 12 senior players left on the Tigers’ books for next season. There will be a continued willingness to promote from within, calling upon the likes of Robbie McKenzie, Brandon Fleming, Max Sheaf and Keane Lewis-Potter, but sources have suggested between eight and 12 players will be sought by City in another far-ranging summer overhaul. Adkins has met with Darnbrough on a number of occasions in recent months, with scouts dispatched to watch a host of League One and League Two fixtures to whittle down targets. “From our point of view, it’s obviously clear that the club are going to cut their cloth accordingly having lost the parachute payments,” said Adkins last month. “Does that change where you’re looking for players and the wages you can pay? Of course it does. “But it doesn’t mean you can’t find good players or have a group of players that are going to give everything they’ve got.”
Looks like the same old story here, we will get a few free transfers/loanees on deadline day and the gruesome twosome will announce a determined push for promotion.
This club. They're like the boyfriend who says he's changed, and you believe him, then he ****s your best mate when you've got flu.
A major overhaul yet again, that said I'd personally only want to keep 3 of those likely to depart! KCOM had better get those revolving doors at the stadium well oiled in readiness!
When does the 3 offers to buy the club come in to confuse the issue of signing players, so they wait & wait & wait & wait, then the last week we pick up a past it pair of 40 year olds who are injured but should be fit in 2 weeks.
The summer transfer window in the Championship will close at the same time as the Premier League in major changes announced today. Teams in the second tier will have to complete all loan or permanent signings by Thursday, August 8 while League One and League Two will still have until the end of the month. Last season all 72 EFL sides had until 31 August to sign players on loan but now Championship clubs will have to get all their business done by August 8. A statement from the EFL read: “The deadline for Championship Clubs for all incoming permanent and loan registrations closes at 5pm on the Thursday prior to the commencement of the Premier League season. “A deadline of 31 August for League One and League Two Clubs for all permanent and loan registrations, thereby providing increased flexibility in relation to trading between Clubs in those two divisions.” EFL Chief Executive, Shaun Harvey, said: “I’m pleased that the matter has been determined and thereby ensuring Clubs have sufficient time to prepare ahead of the summer transfer window opening in June. "It is right that Clubs were given the opportunity to determine the direction of travel in order to come to a decision that benefitted their own individual transfer policies.”
Ehab has just booked his holidays, due back in the office on the 7th August, plenty of time for all this transfer crap.
I have to say despite a number of different managers over the last 6 or 7 transfer windows who each have identified so called targets the boy blunder has an outstanding ability to ignore everything in favour of panic buying in the last 2 days ofeach window if at all while watching all the previously identified targets go elswhere. Free agents loans kids .. anyone who will sign a contract for this cluster fk of a club currently being run by total incompetents.
I'd look at the outgoing. Apart from Campbell there's no one I'd keep. We won't sign anyone early, so why piss and whine about not signing anyone early. We won't. We won't sign loads of players. So why whine when we don't sign loads of players. If we sign players of the quality of de Wijs and Burke I'll be happy. If we keep promoting the youth, I'll be happy. It is what it is.
