We would be one short in league one if Bolton, who have been relegated into it, go out of business and no longer exist. The EFL would have to fill the missing position. The logical way to do it would be for one less team to go down. We were 4th from bottom so logically it would be us reprieved. They would then shuffle the pack for league 2 to make up that number by not rlegating one of them out of the football league. Today they have adjourned the case once more for two weeks to allow Bolton to go into Administration or appoint Administrators who could then go forward and try to find anyone to buy the club as a going concern. I believe they are £200m in debt but of course Admin would reduce that considerably by offering X in the pound to settle them. Nobody in their right mind would pay £200m for a league one club so it would have to be that way. They get a deduction of points for next season for the Admin which is normally 10 points. However, another part of the Bolton saga is they did not complete their league programme for last season by failing to play Brentford. The deduction of 10 points cannot surely cover that as well. Knowing the weak FA though they will probably let them off and if they do teams like Luton should go balistic. They were virtually relegated out of the football league a while back with points deductions so big they would have had to win almost every game to stay up. In Scotland Rangers were relegated to the bottom league and had to do a progression through them to get back to where they had been.
Looks like a 12pt deduction to start the season off in Div 1. If they had folded and dropped out of the league.....everyone would have moved up one place and Argyle would have stayed in Div 1.....wishful thinking.
Various parties with an interest in Bolton FC have requested the appointment of an administrator. That will result in them starting next season on minus 12 points, if they get that far. They owe £1m to HMRC alone and a winding up order has been put into abeyance while the administrator tries to save them. I suppose the FA would be reluctant to let them start next season if it looks unlikely they'll finish it......
No, no , no , no no no. It should not be a case of them starting next season if unlikely to finish. THEY HAVE NOT FINISHED THIS SEASON. That cannot be right and no matter who they are they have to be punished for that surely. I don't want to see a club go out of business but you cannot have failure to complete a fixture list and just let that go. If they do then it totally stinks.
Fair point but you wouldn't say that if you were a Bolton fan, the money is found in the summer to keep them going but the FA boot them out for one unfulfilled fixture.
But I'm not a Bolton fan and the simple fact is that rules are rules and they apply to ALL clubs equally. They have not fulfilled this season's fixtures let alone next and that is what is relevant now. What about the clubs that lost points to Bolton? Clubs could rightly say after this that they will only play games they "fancy" and not bother with others if finishing ALL fixtures is not an absolute requirement.
We should not play the harder games in future, so what happened tothe bolton v brentford match did they give brentford 3 point?
Absolutely correct. No idea how it will unfold but I think this is as serious as it can get. -12 points for administration for sure but am pretty sure there will also be an additional disciplinary charge from the EFL. I don't think for a moment that the promoted/relegated teams will be changed but we are in unchartered territory so be very interesting to see what action the EFL take.
My son and grandson left NW Kent at 8am this morning (by Train).... and have already arrived in Doncaster for the Doncaster v Charlton game (1055am)......1215pm kick-off.
I thought somebody might ask why I was gutted. I was hoping for upwards of 5- 0. I have a feeling Charlton might just win this shoot out.
Oh the irony of it all. Just read a story about a Chelsea player banned from driving for drink driving. His name is Danny DRINKWATER. Shame he didn't.
newport - tranmere final so we wont be playing one of them but they both looked good sides.. i think newport wil do it
