Small club trying to compete with Big Boys.
Never easy, but he did a half decent job IMO.
Gentleman on and off the field.

I think that you need to see his spending in the context of other clubs. Did Fulham not spend a similar amount to go straight back whence they came? I agree that he s a gent I just think that sacking anyone who stayed up with a team like Brighton is unjustified.

Should be done? Let me know if it isn't.

I think the game everyone is referring to was away at Stoke. We had Fer, Tettey and Howson playing in a really fluid midfield, supporting Pilks, RvW and Snodgrass. Then I think Fer got injured and we had nobody capable of "doing everything" in the way he could when on form.

Do you listen to the Feast of Football podcast with Iwan? Agree it seems like an excellent move from Brighton, if true. I was hoping they'd keep Hughton so we stood a better chance of finishing above them!

I still think that they may be one of the sides we finish above next year.

You didn't have to watch the dire football with only 3 wins in the last 23 games. He was well thought of there for getting and keeping them up, but whilst sad, they are broadly speaking glad that hes gone as progress had stalled and it was time for a change. They feel its justified, just as many of us did when he was sacked.

    Bah!

Hope it happens. I really think that we should have given him the opportunity to save us from relegation but that may be with a degree of hindsight. OTOH if he had we probably wouldn't have had 18/19 which without doubt with the possible exception of the Bayern Munich season was our most exciting ever. Oh and of course perhaps '59 but that is stretching memory a bit far even for us codgers. Edit: I see he is 5/6 odds on favourite.

I was tempted to put money on him being sacked a couple of weeks ago after the 'must win' home loss to Cardiff, they only stayed up through sheer luck, VAR woul'd've seen Cardiff pick up alot more points in their run-in. They started well, but then 3 wins in 23 games tells a story, coupled with the negative football, it was only going to end one way.
He seems an upfront honest type of guy and people like him for it, but football isn't a personality contest.

I think we'll all remain divided on this for ever more. In my opinion he should've been sacked much sooner than he was. I almost wish they had kept him so he could own his inevitable relegation with us. No way was he saving us, we were sleepwalking to relegation under his stilted and awful football. OTOH I did think the only reason to have kept him was because he would have been a good candidate to help us bounce back. All water under the bridge, but I'll never view his time at Norwich as anything other than a large backwards step. We got worse the longer he was at the helm and his football was so dull to watch.
Good point re 18/19. Each of the boards decisions good and bad, have led us to this point and to one of, if not the best seasons as a Canary. I know I would rather have Farke at the helm going into next season than Hughton, even if I think both would have a fighting chance of keeping us up. It's the manner that makes Farke such an obvious choice. He's also a nice bloke!

    Bah!

News just in Cris Horton wins the nice guy of football award for the 5th consecutive year.

"Well I'm delighted as I was up against far more deserving opposition, there are some much nicer blokes than me out there in today's game "

I'd think CH will pick up a job in the Championship and in all probability get them promoted and pass Brighton going the other way.

A similar kind of the to Pritchard and the Murphy's having to crane their necks up to look at City next season.

He may well do,but then they'll struggle in the PL, whilst boring the fans rigid and stay up or go down half of them will be sick of his dire football and repeat.

    Bah!
