No, it was a year ago and the same CL campaign so how do you separate violence in the streets just weeks apart if some are trying to link it just to KIev?

The man's still in critical condition.

    You can’t seperate it
The knuckledraggers who think it’s banter certainly won’t
I could understand the likes of Gundogan not really grasping the issue but for the likes of Stirling and Stones who’ve lived and worked in the city you’d really hope they wouldn’t be involved and should be educating their teammates
    It’s indefensible really

I agree. The club need to come out with a statement, or another statement - because they've already issued one - this time including an apology.

I'm still baffled why grown men 'celebrated' a trophy win with a snidey little chant about their fellow professionals who'd fought an outstanding battle with them and who'd had the good grace to congratulate them immediately after their own game.

I get that fans will occasionally create stupid, offensive chants / banners and whatnot. There's idiots everywhere and they're too stupid to know better or to learn. Best that can happen is to just keep slapping bans on them and isolate them from the games.

    But players?

They are representatives of the clubs they play for. And not even one lone player with a tacky instagram post, a squad singing on the plane...inexcusable. Any credit City have just received for a brilliant and tight title winning race has disappeared (or at least should do). Imagine all the kids, all the fans, who idolise them and imitate hairstyles, fashion, celebrations, skills...and no their offensive chants. Needs dealing with asap.

I should imagine and hope this is dealt with quickly.

The royal family who own the club thrive on pr and this is not good for that business model.

But the sad thing in this is, as sad as it would be if this was any teams fans singing this, its ****ing players staff coaches etc that should know better!!!

At the moment their statement is "we support people singing this song". Shocking.

Fa say nothing wrong with it.

So if I sing about killing people apparently that's going to be fine then.

Maybe just rape though.... just to test the waters, we all know the fa change thier minds depending on who does it

As we know, the FA have very flexible attitudes as to whom gets charged with their inflexible rules. Being City, I wouldn't be surprised if the Qataris have bunged the FA board members a little on top of bung they're going to have to give Uefa.

Not sure on what basis they can charge City tbh.

It's a chant on a video where you can't identify who's actually singing.

Not only that, but it's not like City are broadcasting it, it's someone recording it on a mobile on a private plane?

In what capacity would they charge them - they're not present in a professional capacity, at the time of the event they are private individuals.

And it's not directed at any one individual in particular.

At the end of the day, it's just bad taste and bad PR for the club.

With regard to not being present in a professional capacity; they are in their team kit and thus representing their club. Are they under FA jurisdiction when travelling as a team to and from games? I don't know.

Players are ambassadors for the sport, their sponsors (whose name they are displaying in this video) and their own personal integrity. It's arguable that they are bringing the game into disrepute based on their actions while wearing their club kit and on club duty.

Players have been charged for tweets they sent before they were pro footballers. A bunch of players singing derogatory songs while wearing club branded clothes and holding the premier league trophy. Pretty sure if they wanted to, they could punish them

Players aren't representing their club when using personal Twitter, Instagram or Facebook accounts but they still get into trouble for it <whistle>

Before you even get to that, you have to show the players are singing in the first place. I've seen that clip several times and I can't see any doing so, except one person at the back in the cap and the quality is so poor not sure who it is.

The difference to twitter etc is there the individual is placing their own opinion in the public domain. Completely their account, their decision. Here they're on a jet in a private not public environment. It can be argued what they do in private is their business and I would be surprised if the video was published with consent.
