Rondons going to wolves who are straight in at the 16.5 million asking price and offering higher wages not to mention its obvious they are a club with much more ambition. This is what Rafa has been saying when he talks about competing with the teams from 7th to 12th.
Does he really care about ambition at his age? He’s happy here, the fans love him, the manager loves him and he loves being here. Can’t say I’d rather be at wolves over ya but at his age he’ll be looking for bumper pay packets now over anything else I would imagine...that’s not him being a dick about it, just the harsh reality for him of what the **** am I gonna do in 4-5 year time when me knees are ****ed and I can barely walk?
I'm close to the powers that be Wolves are going to spend big again and if they get it right again they'll be a very good side. At his age hell be thinking listening to money and a club that wants to win something.
Have we? Thought the whole Rondon situation was still to be resolved given that they've only just confirmed a price and Benitez is meeting ashley currently
This 'meeting' is pissing me off. Can they not just have the bloody 'meeting' and get it sorted one way or another.
I realise this could be andro/paper talk but let’s pretend anyway. Could see him fancying that. Europe, club on the up, knows the midlands, and the small matter of a bumper contract. He will play 2nd fiddle to Jiminez though and it won’t work out. He’d get fat again sitting on his arse. I wouldn’t worry about him ‘loving it” here. He loved it at West Brom. He will love it anywhere paying him big money. Mike could soon knack our interest by drawing out the contract talks. We can hardly sign him if we do know who manager will be. Big financial commitment. It’s a good get out for signing a 29yr old.
I live in the Midlands and local press were saying Wolves have already spoken to Rondon. Could be bull, like our Chron publish.
Clearly any deal is now gonna hinge on our ability to move Gayle on. WBA aren't interested due to his wages being too high but I'm sure there'll be a good few clubs who will take a punt on him given his record last season and at that level in general...hopefully we can ship him out permanently rather than another loan deal. I'd quite happily keep Rondon like, he took a good few months to get settled in but the main thing for me is that he did and if he's still here next season we'll get more of the benefit of that. I'm pretty sure Rafa won't want to be starting the season with Perez, Muto, Gayle and Joselu as our striker options.
I kinda did until I started typing out all of our striking options...twas a right “oh ****” moment when I realised
