I have watched a fair few of the Women's World Cup games so far mostly because the general television is crap and not worth a glance. Something I have noticed and maybe it is just me imagining things but some of the Officials seem rather biased to one team and therefore generally against another. The use of VAR has been rubbish so far and a lot of the decisions using it have been less than 100%. The handball situations is one example of this. There have been a few given where the ball has bounced up and even though the rules have been changed the results have been harsh to say the least. However, Scotland were denied one for exactly that. The ball hit an opposition hand/arm and no VAR. It was clear yet still no VAR. A penalty was given yesterday for a foul that was outside the box. Even though VAR was consulted. Today the host nation, surprise surprise, were given a penalty for a foul by VAR. They missed it. So, just to be fair they gave it again because the foot of the Nigerian keeper was an inch off the line. To rub it in they sent the fouling player off for a second bookable offence. Talk about make sure the host gets through. In that Scotland match mentioned before they could not buy a decision no matter how blatant it was. In the end tonight I was willing the Nigerian players to kick seven bells of crap out of the French in the last 20 minutes just for spite. If the Ref is going to be biased then give her something to genuinely give and enjoy yourself at the same time.

I saw a summary of the 2019/20 handball rule in the paper on Sunday. It's even more vague and unfathomable than the last one. Can we please go back to it simply needing to be deliberate, let referees decide and scrap VAR?

There is now no handball if the ball is deflected onto the arm, or if the ball hits a player using his arm for support.

A free kick or penalty will be awarded if:

    • the ball goes into the goal after touching an attacker's hand or arm
    • a player wins ball possession after it comes off their hand or arm and then scores, or creates a goalscoring chance
    • the ball touches a player's hand/arm which has made their silhouette unnaturally bigger
    • the ball touches a player's hand/arm when it's raised above their shoulder
There will be no penalty if:

    • the ball touches a player's hand/arm immediately from their own head/body/foot or the head/body/foot of another player
    • the ball touches a player's hand/arm close to their body and has not made their silhouette unnaturally bigger
    • a player is falling and the ball touches their hand/arm when it is between their body and the ground (but not extended to make the body bigger)
    • additionally, should the goalkeeper attempt to clear a ball from a teammate but fails, the goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball
And so, gaining possession and scoring as a result of handling the ball will not be allowed - nor will a goal scored directly from handling the ball, regardless of intent

    FFS!!

Michel Platini is being questioned by French police regarding corruption in the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.

Surprise, surprise.....many of those involved in that vote have already been prosecuted or sacked....why has it taken so long to talk to Platini.....I would think most of the brown envelopes have been spent or well hidden by now.

I heard something on the radio today that was saying basically Refs were being biased. So it isn't just me that had that thought then. Some shocking decisions both with and without VAR.

As for Platini well it just isn't a shock is it. The whole process is corrupt from bottom to top and how either Russia or Qatar got to stage a World Cup is totally beyond me. Just take it off Qatar and possibly even Russia as there are Countries who could step in without too much hassle at very short notice. Both those votes were terrible and it is clear that a whole load of bribery took place.

Read something similar elsewhere.....the debt just seems to be passed on and it becomes hard to see through the layers of borrowing that happen....the daily interest on the debt is now so high it just needs to end as soon as possible......across the city you have Man C who just swim on in an ocean of Arab wealth which makes the game of monopoly look like a poor mans Saturday pocket money for washing dads car.

Watched the England v Japan match this evening. How the feck did England win that let alone 2 - 0? I thought we were total crap pretty much all game and tried so very hard to give the game away. If only Japan could score we would have been hammered. I also watched the travesty that was Scotland and the penalty VAR decisions yet again. Another farce and all I can say is I'm glad we are not able to have VAR at our level because I think I might just give it all up and just go to the pub and cut out the rest. This handball rubbish is also going to be interesting. I can see most games ending up a penalty shoot out once players get crafty. Whoever they have sitting in their darkened room thinking up these new rules obviously hasn't a clue about football at all.

Somebody made the point that the stuttering penalty run-up will be the fashion, trying to get keepers to move their feet. Then we'll have to change that rule. We are now in the situation where rules are being changed to suit VAR, That wasn't the idea was it...

There's a torrent of anti-VAR comment out there. I don't suppose the authorities are listening..........

I have a question. The new handball rule says your arm mustn't be used to widen your body. If a defender puts his arms behind his back and then twists sideways so the ball strikes his arms behind him, is that a penalty? He's widened his profile in that axis hasn't he?

No he's lessened his profile by being side on not full on................unless you're Razor Ruddock of course. Truth is that's just a guess and I have no idea anymore than most others will have. All I know is that it is a farce in the Women's World Cup and that's besides the Referees also seeming biased. I have noticed that it appears that if drawn to a VAR decision that all of the Refs find it to be proved. Not one of them has overturned the VAR Ref or stuck with their original no decision. That means that VAR is ruling the game not Refs. I'd rather it be scrapped altogether and go with useless Referees making mistakes than with this sanitised version. Cameras will make the innocuous challenge look bad in slow mo every time. It is going to become a game of penalties and retaken penalties until whoever is awarded it scores.

Can you imagine a penalty shoot out? How long before a keeper is sent off? Three penalties?

Just caught up with that story on the beeb news site. Well no great shock is it. We were all just waiting for Boris to feck it all up with something stupid and here you go. The man isn't fit to run anything let alone a Country. I really don't understand what anyone sees in the man. He acts like a bufoon on the tele and people think he's funny and endearing in a kind of Frank Spencer way. But, do they realise that he would be actually running the Country with a whole load of proper grown up responsibilities and just cracking a funny won't cut it.

Michael Gove was their best chance of sanity....but Johnson's gang eased him out.

Jeremy Hunt is hated by the NHS.....who flooded a BBC 5 debate on the leadership issue....saying that they had been long time Conservative voters...but will never vote for them again because of him.

Just imagine a general election with both leaders being called Jeremy.......I would definitely vote for Nigel....he at least understands the EU mess.

Been watching Germany v Nigeria....game dominated by VAR decisions.....how can it take so long to come to a decision.

Germany 2-0 up after VAR....the first goal a check to see if a German player was blocking the keepers view....standing directly in front of keeper...3 feet away !
The second moments later the Nigerian defender miss kicks the ball and kicks the German player.

Watched Norway v Australia and once again that was VAR ridden with every decision worthy of the name going to Norway. Red card that should have been a yellow for me and no card for a Norwegian who should have had the second one. Biased...............
