This is an absolutely massive overhaul of our team. Once the transfer window closes we will know the precise numbers in and out, but they will be very large. We have committed to “A & B” and now we need to be patient for the long haul, hopefully even to “X, Y & Z”. This needs to be at least a three year project and hopefully much longer, hopefully even a “Legacy”. The objective is to emulate the Leceister, Burnley, Southampton and Bournemouth models of long term sustainability with potential to reach and be competitive in the “Holy Grail” of the Premiership. I really hope that we are able to develop a successful and entertaining style of play, as well as a profitable business model based upon a strong pipeline of developing players. We as fans need will to see how this develops, but we really need to be patient and supportive. I admit that I am quite optimistic that we are on the correct path and really hope that this will be successful.
I think what we are getting with a lot of these signings is players who have character and can be 'leaders' on the pitch, something we have lacked in recent seasons. Good examples for the youngsters who will be coming through as well. I'm a bit more optimistic we might actually string three passes together as well...
I make it four....must admit I thought it was more Amos - Spurs Smith - Man City Mlakar - Brighton Hughill - West Ham
Losing track of who’s in & out, never seen an overhaul like this but something had to be done, the football was awful for a few seasons & was becoming quite pissed off watching it,
A bit bored, so I thought I'd have a go at trying to work out a likely squad of 22 after all the transfer deals. This seems to me to be what we will be working with, in 4-2-3-1 formation. The first named is who I think might be first choice for each position. GK - Lumley, Kelly RB - Kane, Rangel CB - Barbet, Leistner CB - Hall, Masterson LB - Wallace, Manning DCM - Ball, Cameron DCM - Smith, Scowen RAM - Amos, Shodipo CAM - Eze, Chair LAM - Pugh, BOS ST - Hugill, Mlakar I'm assuming that Luongo, Goss and Wheeler will be shipped out, but that Leistner may be staying after being involved yesterday. What do you reckon?
That's a nice list, Stroller. I don't know many of the incoming guys at all so I'd be guessing based on their reputations. But what it does tell me is that it could be a good squad and we have decent cover for your first choices. I reckon we've done some promising business in the transfer market this Summer.
Yeah, a lot of guesswork for us at the moment, but we have to assume Warburton knows what he wants. It hasn't been dull, though.
Always look forward to pre-season transfers but this has gone beyond my expectations! Don’t forget stroller their is one more to come in!!
Hugill said it was good to be wanted on the offish interview. Reckon he might have the right attitude. It'll be fascinating to see how we start but boy there's a lot of gelling to be done but if we are patient then just maybe we've got a useful side.
I'd expect Amos to play. On Saturday, Eze started wide right with Amos in the middle and BOS on the left. It didn't stay like that for long though, they interchanged a lot.
Sure Dave Mac said there hadn't been any offers, a bit of interest but nothing concrete. I assume selling him will be key to us keeping within FFP but who knows. Wheeler and Goss will be gonners though.
So after a good show against Watford, the main downside is that the bookies STILL have us in a relegation dog fight.
How many loaners do we now have in the squad? And how many can be in the line up on a match day please?
