talking about all giggs has achieved, got me thinking about who did the oppisite, le tissier always springs to mind.. for me also, chris waddle...not seen many english players with more ability then him, a joy to watch , and probably should have aimed higher then sheff weds when returning to england.. .

can any older members tell me how good jimmy greaves was? before my time, but his goalscoring record is fantastic!
There was a guy called Robin Friday, just wiki him a real wasted talent. Anyone who has kicked Mark Lawrenson in the face and had a song called "The man dont give a fuk" written about him must be a wasted talent. Tying it in with the thread on that total **** Fagend, about ten kids i played football with as a kid in Hull can be classed as having underachieved when someone with as little skill as him has had a career out of football!!
David Bentley for me. Was talked up as a really good prospect when he was at Arsenal and a future star for the England team. Although still in the PL (I think) for me he was a wasted talent given the hype. On the silverwear side of things, I think Gerrard's talent has been deserving of more trophies (nothing since FA Cup in 2006).
don't agree. he's a wolves record scorer, played and scored for england too.. saw him play when i was at Derby..
What gets me is when players who have won nothing in the game end up as analysts or pundits, the likes of Robbie Savage, Danny Mills, I respect those that have actually been winners and know what it takes to win. Robbie Savage must have a great agent thats all I can say.
Bentleys problem was always his attitude, believed he was so good he didn't have to put the effort in. He's on loan at west ham for the season.
Good call, he had so much natural talent, but never realised his potential. I know Leigh quite well and even he freely admits that he put having a good time way ahead of playing football.
I know what you're saying about him going to the Wendies, but I'm not sure you can call a player who scored 46 goals in 170 games for Spurs, before a £4.5m(1989) move to Marseille(where he came 2nd in the French player of the year awards) and got 62 caps for England an 'underachiever'. The only area I think he really underachieved was in a completely different field.........
Virtually everybody who has come through our youth system Or is it just that they get hyped up to be something that there not
