On the subject of throw ins did anyone see ours get caught by the wind and go straight back out of play
For all this talk about 10 seconds vs a minute, i feel like this video needs run out: In time things will get more efficient.
I suppose that one benefit of VAR, is that players, who previously weren’t red carded, because the referee missed an incident, will now be caught out, on the day and the team sinned against could actually benefit, by playing against 10 men.
I see the scousers cheated last night as the final penalty should have been retaken. Image shows 'keep off his line....so much for VAR integrity
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48703852 Won't affect us. Ref was also told to try and avoid using it for penalties last night reportedly. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Not really a var issue but surely if any contact that leads to a goal is a foul then the same principle should apply at the other end? Feel for City fans though.
Law now states that a goal that is scored as a result of handball will be disallowed, regardless of whether it is accidental or not. So the goal had to be chalked off.
So VAR has been okay 2 weeks in row in every match (plus the EURO final on Wednesday). Okay so far then? Not a bad start given all the gloom beforehand?
Next week will be the first time I will see it live (assuming it gets used). It's totally fine on TV so I'll let you my opinion from inside the stadium.
You probably won't change your mind as you were completely for it beforehand, the complete opposite to me Our two matches so far have been relatively low key compared to some others so it will be interesting to see how opinions develop and change (both ways) as the season progresses.
My gut feel is that it's not a law which will last more than a couple of seasons. The level of negativity towards it will, quite rightly, just increase over time. So many little rules changes which they could have introduced to make the game better (in my view), and yet they decide on this one...
TBF Libs you have it fixed in your mind that it is a bad thing so you will never see positives in it or accept it at any time.
That's cos it is a bad thing and there are few positives That works both ways though mate with the 'it will get some things right!' brigade who refuse to take part in any conversation on other factors. I'm at the point where I think if you're gonna use it then you may as well use it for everything.
