york,4 15: quite a few interesting fillies on show here, but SEARCH FOR A SONG might just be the best today.her 4th in the irish oaks is seriously good form, and shes still a bit less exposed than most here.so,definite shout.
4 o’clock and only 19 overs bowled. Now off for bad light and guess what it’s started raining. She may have won 10 Group 1s but I’d be more impressed by Enable if she won a Group 2 giving 7lb to the horses she’s beating in these races. Group 1 inflation has made a mockery of top class racing.
I remember when I first got into racing York was my favourite meeting, used to use a week holiday for it, since they relaid the track ive found York to be a complete lottery and I went from thinking it was the fairest track in Europe to being the track im least likely to bet at. Outside the Ebor meeting I generally ignore racing at York these days bar the odd Group race.
Extremely well backed this one Stick. 4/1 fav now and too short for me now, I've missed my chance. I have had a good look at the race however and I like the look of Perfect Leader @ 16s. I'm on that one ew but will be putting a reverse forecast on with yours. Best of luck
Sounds like you've not had a good day! It's flat racing anyhoo so pretty boring spectacle wise.. I think you backed magical rather than enable? What has happened to one of Europe's top judges?
had a fine day, I post my York gripe every year I was well aware Enable was likely to have too much, I just thought Magical was worth backing today, shes a top class filly and should have a good year next season with no Enable/Crystal Ocean around, I needed Enable to underperform after a tough race in the King George but it didnt happen. Im also on at 9/2 for the Arc, what price do yo have?
Tim Easterby has the winner of the lucky last at York this afternoon. Hefty odds too @ 66/1. I noticed he did one of those ATR Stable tours on Tuesday primarily to discuss his York fancies. He previews over 30 horses but today's winner not even worthy of the long list. Yorkshireman giving fook all away .
Fair enough..that's the way it goes sometimes. Not on enable for the arc..in fact never had a bet in it. Betting on flat racing is limited to sporadic Saturday's for me..jump racing gets my juices flowing more.. I saw the Yorkshire oaks had a field of 4 today.. not just jump racing then that has small fields at the highest level.
Think the top 2 fillies in the Europe scared a few away. Theyve pulled 10 clear of Lah Ti Dar, wasnt much point in anyone else turning up.
Mine fell when trying to push forward to mount a challenge. Not sure it would have gone close, never looked a comfortable ride throughout and you have to jump the fences to be in with a chance. That's me until tomorrow, profit from first race diminished a bit by the rest of my selections but still a profit so that counts as a good day.
One thing to note from my afternoon at Stratford, the trainer D Jeffries, who had a winner on the card and has an interesting runner in the 7:50. He has just seven horses in training (probably means 25) and has already had 4 winners as a trainer with three different horses claiming those wins. He spoke after Petrucci landed some bets in the first and it was clear to me that he had a good education in the sport and he spoke with some ambition. Tonight he runs one he claimed from a Stratford race that Gordon Elliott sent him across for. Rakhine State is the horse, and will he be the 5th winner for the yard?
Somebody call for the blokes with the jacket that only does up at the back. Me and Eddie virtually in total agreement about something – I went to what used to be my favourite track today and did not pay a penny to get in but went to the start of each race to get some photos because they banned cameras two years ago so I will never go again. After they did the drainage work, the jockeys stopped sticking to the inside rail on the round course and started coming down the middle of the track, so it has become a total lottery. I expect that is down to how the track rides now as there always used to be a bias to one side or the other when the ground was easy – they would come stands’ side only when it was soft. Most of the ‘improvements’ that have been made to racing generally over the last decade or so have been detrimental in my opinion but those in charge have decided to chase a young audience (those people who have no spare money) and do not care if us old codgers with plenty of spare money to spend stay away. I used to go racing twenty or thirty times a year but this year I have been six and next year it will be two: my mate’s birthday *iss up at Beverley and the *iss up to London featuring Ascot at the end of October/start of November. Neither of them actually racing oriented. Well done Racing For Change, you got rid of me.
Racing for Change. Now there's a memory of a real pain in the arse. I remember ripping into to that set up. I would love to read what I said at the time. I know it was far from complimentary
