Ole has said in his press conference today that Sanchez is staying and will be a part of the first team squad this season. He wasn't at all convincing tbh, so it's more a case that we can't offload him, so we have to make they best of it unless something happens in the European transfer window.
This Mr Conte chap in Italy seems like a nice bloke - good of him to take all our crap away for the new season. Inter Milan - the Steptoe's yard of Europe
Got to love Ole and his honesty in interviews, this is what he said when asked who was the is the most natural finisher between Rashford and Martial. I want both of them to score the easy goals. You don't have to work too hard to score them." Asked who is the most natural finisher of the pair, a smiling Solskjaer said: "They've both got a way to go because Mason Greenwood is more of a natural finisher."
Very nice deflection there from Ole. lol I think we should have left Rashford on the field to go for a hat-trick last week. Sounds superficial, but those things can do wonders for a player. We need Rashford to go on a run of consistent goal scoring form. I firmly believe that he has what it takes, but he has to prove that on the field by getting to 20 goals a season. We need the same from Martial - 20 goals! That should be the target for both of them.
From what we are seeing this summer, spending insane money on players and handling them huge contracts come with high risk beyond on-field events. If for whatever reason you need to offload them, it becomes a major project - Neymar, Coutinho, Dembele and Sanchez have all shown how flawed and lazy that model is. It is why I was very happy that we walked away from Dybala who was seeking payday when in fact he has simply not been good enough to even make the Juve team in-spite of his relatively young age. I hope this summer is the start of "common sense" transfer market into the future.
Still no new contract with de Gea. Question, is he still as good as he used to be, has he peaked - he is nowhere near the keeper he used to be, Palace's second goal was 100% down to him, so de Gea's points loss total so far is -1, and the season is just underway - hope he improves it he stays.
Yay, tonight's story is that we have agreed a loan deal with Inter for Sanchez, downside is we will be paying around 50% of his wages.
Of all the players that have not lived up to their billing, his failure to succeed at United is the only real shock.
Was thinking about this the other week when the likes of Llorente and Manjzukic (however that's spelled) were being mentioned. I think he'd be brilliant to have back around for the rest of the season after January.
Well yeah, I'd take him back in a heartbeat but even if it's a case of wait till January, he'd still add experience and class. And a kick up the arse.
Looks like Smalling is heading out on loan to Roma - https://www.skysports.com/football/...g-to-join-roma-on-loan-from-manchester-united I can see why Sanchez had to go, but we have a long campaign coming up and shedding defenders so early is always risky. probably not Ole's doing, more a case of Woodward saying 'I backed you - now the wage bill has to be trimmed - so get rid of a few'.
We had to get rid of at least one. Personally would have kept Smalling and looked to get rid of Rojo and Jones but those two have stayed so it's not like were at risk of being short.
I think I've read that we're in talks to loan Rojo out too - that leaves Jones....................................
