Good Morning. It's Tuesday 17th September, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines

    Leeds U23's run riot

Carlos Corberan's U23's ran riot over hapless Watford, so much so that Leeds keeper Illan Meslier might as well have taken a seat in the stands instead of between the sticks.

Struijk opened proceedings early over, followed by a Nketiah brace.

At half time Nketiah, Berardi and Douglas were replaced by Ayling, Roberts and Davis.

Man of the Match Robbie Gotts extended the Whites lead to four after great work from Ayling. Roberts and Ayling completed the rout proving both players are fit and raring to go!

When will Ayling and Roberts return to first team action? Who will they replace on the bench?

Are the youngsters being frozen out?

We all know Bielsa likes a settled team, and will only make amendments to the starting XI if he has to. Does this mean that the Whites are missing out on nurturing their young talent? We have seen a host of talent leave LS11 over the Summer and were in a position to see some of these young starlets in action for Barnsley last weekend.

What was your reaction to Wilkes and Halme's performances? Personally speaking, Barnsley got themselves a couple of bargains there (1.5m for Wilkes and 500k for Halme), and both players have the potential to be sold for big money in the near future. Halme in particular I feel, kept Bamford relatively quiet, and his 6ft 4 frame could have given Leeds further options this season.

Will Leeds regret letting either signing leave?

How difficult is it going to be for the likes of Gott, Bogusz or 16yo sensation Mckinstry to even find a place on the bench when 10m Jack Clarke is deemed surplus to requirements, yet starts and scores the only goal of the game for England U19's recently.

Let's not forget either about Ryan Edmondson who scored on his England U18 debut recently, and netted 19 times last season.

Do we need a feeder club?

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

I have every confidence in Bielsa and how he wants the academy running. He made the decision to offload some and and also some kids like Halme thought they deserved to be playing first team so decided to leave. We have to face facts and Wilks is no Eddie and what I mean by that is we will only keep outstanding kids now who will be good enough to play Championship and Premiership footy. I spend time on our academy and kids and was disappointed to see Diaz go but we dont know the facts and Sam Dalby who we broke the bank to get but he got homesick so we sold him to Watford. He is so good that his first outing for Watford saw him score all 4 goals for them.

Last night Sam Dalby played for Watford against a rampage Leeds and was hardly in the game due to our dominance. I recommend everyone reads WJs match report in the U23 fixture sticky above. The only thing I would add is that last night we saw Edmondson and Kun dropped so first teamers could play, which is ok as both played twice for their respective countries. The other thing is that WJ mentioned McKinstry but this kid is 16yo and is going to be some player. No wonder every club in Scotland and a few Prem clubs down here were chasing him. Wow what a prospect

One further point that WJ mentioned last night re Eddie. He was playing against U23 players and struggled to play up top by himself s holding the ball was a problem for him. He is deffo fox in the box though and has plenty of pace and scares defenders to death, but he cannot do the hard yards that Bamford does.

We have to allow Bielsa to pick his own teams and yes I am dying to see Eddie and Costa start but he knows best

Terrific win, good to see Ayling and Roberts on the comeback, I'm sure injuries and suspensions will help carve a way into the match squad for them, neither ready for first team action for a while yet, I'd imagine.

Was surprised when Halme was sold, not so much Wilks, both would have busted a gut to prove a point Sunday, lets see they can do it over a season before we start kicking oursel;ves about letting them go.

    Morning all

If we’re top of the league and the U23s are smashing the goals in banging on the door for a chance then it’s win win.

good morning to Matt and co from a sunny Bardsey
Well WJ you look like having a new star In Wetherby as a neighbour McKinstay I wonder how much we paid Motherwell for him? What ever it cost it will be a snip.
I was more impressed with Ben White on Sunday so much so that I never thought I would say this but we have not missed Pontus at all and he is covering up well for Cooper making him look good.

Last season we struggled to have a fit first team all season and we brought in kids to fill the holes where required. We fell short because players like Pablo were goosed at the end of the season.

This season we have at least 7 first teamers who are waiting in the wings champing at the bit and we also have around 6 U23s who are also capable of slotting in now. I reckon we are a much stronger outfit this year and accept we dont have the injury list of last season, but we have had Ayling and Roberts out and only just coming back and we dont have 3 loan players who were out injured or were crap like Baker, plus we have a new Harrison.

All is looking good atm, my only concern is Hernandez, he doesn’t seem to be firing on all cylinders, hope that changes soon or maybe a spell on the bench!!

I agree White does look the part but why do you have to keep knocking Cooper?

The thing with Pablo is that we have relied on him for creativity for so long. At the moment he’s off his game (in my opinion when he’s bad he’s often a disaster because everything comes through him). But - we’re top of the league without him firing. I really like Roberts, and if he’s back fit, the option to use Pablo more sparingly may well keep him fresh and be best for everyone.

    Morning all,

Nope, no regrets about Halme & Wilks leaving. Wasn't sure at the time, but when you look around the squad, there's better available, and more coming through. Halme tried to pressure Bielsa to get more game time. Backfired, but good luck to him for being so ambitious. I think he'll make it. Wilks, I'm not so sure about. I don't remember him even playing for the u23s under Bielsa, so success with us was probably never on the cards, but we just didn't realise. Good luck to him. I will always remember him for giving me one of my biggest laughs at a footie match. He was on the wing & dived under a tackle, about 5 yards in front of us. It was never, ever a foul. He did an Ayling by grabbing the ball on the deck, turned to the ref shouting & got the foul. He then turned round to us & gave us the biggest smile, clearly struggling to subdue the hysterical laughter that was forcing its way out. Just as well the ref was busy dealing with the furious defenders or he'd have noticed the shoulders going up & down with the laughter. Total con & he thought it hysterical. It's so rare to see players enjoy themselves so much & interact with the fans during a match. Happy days. Wish the lad well. And thinking about it, perhaps the reason he failed with us - too much nonsense in his head. But you need that in his personal situation. Hopefully out of Harehills for good now.

The problem with football at this level and particularly when you have a decent squad and near the top of the league, we get spoilt. We need to remember Pablo isn't David Silva, Cooper isn't Van Dyke, Bamford isn't Abamayang etc. We have good players who are playing at the top of their capability and still learning. We are getting super value from the players we can afford so must accept mistakes will happen
