As we go into the international break there's not many comments on our team, so I thought I'd browse the web looking for some QPR snippets that maybe of interest, but probably not deserving of their own thread. First up an article from three years ago on the QPR 82/83 Championship winning squad and where are they now? Steve Burke is an interesting one, he's now a gaming machine collector for Butlins. https://www.theleaguepaper.com/feat...e-now-qprs-second-division-champions-1982-83/ Here's a nice if not too optimistic article on 'Could QPR be the ones to watch' ... https://www.clubcall.com/championsh...uld-be-the-ones-to-watch-in-the-championship/ Fans of Championship clubs vote for their biggest rivals ... please log in to view this image QPR goalie on loan at Doncaster ... Flashback to five years ago today when The Guardian published an interview with Tony Fernandes ... Great photo of Dave Thomas taking a corner circa 1973. I think this was our first game of the season v Southampton. I was sitting on the wall behind the goal in the school end that day not far from where the ref is standing, and I think it ended 1-1. please log in to view this image QPR podcast Loftcast with Grant Hall and Andy Sinton ... Interesting that there was an article in The Sun earlier this week about Peter Hucker, apparently when he retired he bought his own milk round franchise before eventually going into coaching. Amazing to think of any modern day footballer who played in an FA Cup Final and replay and in the top division having to deliver milk for a living when they first quit the game...
I listened to that Marcus Bean podcast yesterday - some funny stories about Ainsworth, Bircham, Gallen and others - and the some of the fall out from the game at Stoke that Birch & Gerry Taggart almost came to blows
Some photos from Harlington, sent to me by my mate who was at the Staff and Scouts Registration evening few days ago.... We definately need the new training complex! Nice bag of goodies for the scouts to wear!
Has your mate's photo of the photo of the 75/76 team cut out Stan, Gerry, Dave Clement, and Givens, or weren't they in the photo?
No idea - I'm sure it's not intentional if he has.... Found this photo, unfortunately not great quality, but looks like it was taken at the same time..... Looks like Gerry and Stan at the end of the back row.....
If you think we have problems with FFP, etc, then this is a totally "different" level of problem which is worth a read! https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49535480 Shakhtar Donetsk: The Ukrainian serial winners forced to flee from war A little after 10pm, there's not one set of footsteps to be heard on the pavements of Donetsk. It's an hour before the nightly military curfew starts but no-one's taking any chances and the city is already slipping into a state of quiet. It won't stir again till 4am tomorrow, once the curfew is lifted. Donetsk is a city that once bristled with promise. Situated in the east of Ukraine close to Russia's borders, it is now a key location in a bitter conflict that shows little sign of easing. About 13,000 people have been killed, and the United Nations estimates at least 1.3 million have fled their homes. Many of those who remain in Donetsk appear weakened by years of isolation and its football team - the heart of the city's social life - has fled.
There was a super article in the Sunday Times this week on Dave Thomas and his battle with blindness...
An interesting and sad article on Antonio German. Antonio German: Former QPR striker says racism forced him out of Malaysian club http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49335642
Didn't he used to get the tube to matches back in the day? Can't imagine many modern players doing that now!
Random thread seems to be a good place to raise the following. I'm going to be running/hobbling the Ealing half marathon on the 29th. Will be wearing a QPR top (95-96 Compaq with a round neck if you're asking) and so do shout encouragement if you happen to be watching.
Paweł Wszołek was having a medical yesterday at Legia Warszawa (Warsaw). According to the article, which is a reliable source, today he will sign a two year contract. https://www.przegladsportowy.pl/pil...l-wszolek-blisko-podpisania-kontraktu/8pbnxky
Thanks Ski! I was looking to see if he had got another Club yet just yesterday. Of all the players we let go in the summer think he really deserves another good Club. Good luck Pawel!
