We have a real South Coast Derby on our hands here.

Saints travel to Portsmouth this Tuesday in the Carabao Cup for the first South Coast Derby in 7 years.

We don’t have the best record against them recently but this is all going to change on Tuesday.

Forget the Bournemouth game, that was just getting the rust out off the system, this is the BIG one.

    Let’s get at them!

    My team:

    McCarthy
Cedric Bed Yoshida Bertrand (please for the love of god)
    Rom Hoj JWP
Redmond Adams Djenepo (also please for the love of god)

    Prediction:

Win. Don’t care how it comes (preferably 4-1) but just win the bloody game.

    COYR!

If Ralph gets this wrong, hes going to find the goodwill of the fans gone in my opinion.

He has got to play his strongest team, in their best positions. No square pegs in round holes, no experimenting. None of that bollocks.

Oh, and play ****ing Yoshida over the giant.

No. Way that would make 6 in a row.

Small fact here. In the 1980s it became fashionable for American Secret Service personnel to secrete Pompey supporters away to offshore ‘black sites’ in order to perfect the torture technique later known as waterboarding.

It was, at the time, known as skateboarding, and its inventor was Tony Hawk.

Boufal does a fair shift going backwards as well as his attacking flair. Moussa has had 2 starts over here and nothing like the atmosphere will be at Krap Nottarf; I’d bring him off the bench if we need something later in the game. It also protects whatever this niggle he has is.

The real selection issues are around getting the defenders right.

He scores a hat-trick, forever a Saints hero and I then become even more unbearable than I ever have been (and that takes some doing).

That would be sensational. A hatrick from the left back position.

    McCarthy
    Valery Danso Yoshida Bertrand
    Armstrong Romeu PEH
    Redmond Ings Adams

A lot stronger that I would usually go for a cup game against lower league opposition (for obvious reasons), but still short of our strongest XI.

Ordinarily that would include me resting Adams (probably for Long). But Adams needs a goal badly, so he has to play. With Spurs and Chelsea up next, I will start to worry if Adams doesn't score against Pompey.

It is baffling as to why Valery and Bertie have become so out of favour and why we have failed to play our supposed saviour at CB there yet.
I've noticed the Slattery hasn't got a look in yet too, maybe Ralph bears grudges?
