Blimey, you're a sentimental lot. I think I'm up to 9 cats, 2 dogs, 6 chickens (fox), 2 ducks, 2 hamsters, 2 budgies, 4 zebra finches (1 of the 9 cats), 1 iguana, and 1 tortoise (inherited and lived for about 100 years). Currently 1 dog , 3 cats and 2 tortoises (who I had when I was 5, so about 65 years old). Unless you get a tortoise they gonna die
Sorry to hear about your chuck, FLT. My only advice? Don't get attached to them, as I'm sure you know. And I know that's hard, but you've gotta do it if you have animals. I couldn't, so I don't have animals or pets. I know your egg layers pay for their keep, so it's a business partnership in a way. Hopefully your others are in great condition.
On another front, I've seen so many Model 3's now that I'm getting a tad blasé it all. But I haven't seen Smart Summon in action. This is an updated feature that'll mostly be used in supermarket car parks in the pouring rain. You stand outside the shop, but under cover. Then you press a button on your Tesla app, and the car comes to you. It surprises some people who don't know about Teslas. This guy obviously knew nothing of them [they don't advertise], so he was somewhat blown away. Some day all cars are going to have this. It's still very much in its infancy too: The story goes that the owner summoned the car. Unbeknownst to the owner, someone freaked out seeing the Tesla move by itself, and started videoing it. Afterwards the guy was full of questions about the car. Apparently, he didn't know you could buy these things. Well he does now. And word gets around eventually.
Looks like we’ll be taking him to the vet today ..... He’s nearly 17 and has had a good life, but he’s struggling to get around, is nearly blind and we’re having to carry him outside now ...... it’s not fair to keep him like this, even though he seems quite happy and tries to wag his tail. But it’s going to be extremely hard ......
So sorry...let no one tell you that he's just a pet. He's part of your family history and you have the opportunity to do one last thing that's right for him.
Thanks. Yes - exactly. We’ve got plenty of memories and photos with which we can remember him. It’s the first time I’ve witnessed the act. It was really well done - the vet was amazing and made it as painless for everyone as possible. He’s gone now - no more in pain ..... heart wrenching for the moment but it was the only way and the vet agreed
I’m not a religious man but I sincerely hope this evil bastard suffers for all eternity somewhere .....
I feel your pain My two are 10 3/4 now and I am dreading the day. As Fran said, they aren't only pets, they are really part of your family. Just remember all the good times and the love he brought you, and in turn how you made his life wonderful.
We had to have one of our cats put to sleep a few months ago. As you say, the vet was amazing, and Alice’s last act was to start purring loudly as we stroked her.
I think you'll find that FLT is quite upset about one of his chickens dying, so won't really appreciate the humour.
Green Energy outpaces Fossil Fuel energy for the first time. In the 3rd quarter of this year more electricity has been produced by renewables than by the methods of coal, oil [1%] and gas [38%]. The UK really is turning to low-zero emission power generation, albeit slowly, but faster than quite a few of our fellow western countries. We are starting to make proper use of the extensive winds we have over the British Isles. Wind Power is growing like topsy: https://electrek.co/2019/10/14/green-energy-more-electricity-than-fossil-fuels-first-time-uk/
Just watch this graph for the shift in demand for types of Plug-In cars. This includes PHEVs and BEVs:
