Where do we start - Ole out if we lose, Ole in come what may, the press have been having a field day, the bottom line is that this is still one of the the major fixtures of the season. Hard to predict how we are going to approach the game ie, go hell for leather or will Ole set us up to try and minimise the damage a bad result could have on our season. The team news later on will no doubt give us a clue, but I want to see a strong performance from whoever gets to wear our shirt today.
I wish us the best of luck. We are going to need it with the amount of injuries that we are dealing with. I've heard arguments that the squad is not good enough, therefore the poor performance is not Ole's fault. Yes, but who was in charge all summer to ensure the squad is fit for purpose? Ole! Who is responsible for whatever is causing so many injuries this early on in the season? Backroom staff that use methods approved by the manager. Therefore, the buck stops again with Ole. Not the board, not Woodward, it is Ole's responsibility to get performance out of the squad he signed off on before the season started. On the patience side - Ole has earned more points than Jurgen at the start of the first 29 games with Liverpool. However, I would argue that Jurgen showed progressive signs of improvement during those 29 games, whereas we have massively regressed since the first 10 games of Ole (mostly attributed to feel good factor). Overall, statistics mean nothing without applying context to it. Anyway, I believe we have a chance today. And if we win, I won't be jumping to suggest we should keep Ole - he's still too far out of his depth. If we lose, we should absolutely move swiftly to replace the manager before the next game.
Team news, looks a very positive starting eleven and some decent options on the bench too. Salah is out for the dippers -
Bit confused as to where Young will play, are we going 3 at the back with Maguire, Lindelof and Tuanzebe and Young and Wan Bissaka as wing backs.
Quite why we started to drop off into a defensive formation I don't know - as always it invited pressure and we conceded. A 1 -1 draw, not the worst result given some of the predictions.
The goal they actually scored, the player who played it across for Lallana was a mile offside in the build up.
At this rate, we will have half the team down by Christmas. I really had us down for a win today. Clown Klopp is already talking about how we always defend against his "amazing free scoring" team. What a fricken arrogant moron! This is how their wheels always start falling off year in, year out.
We did something we don't do often enough today, we outworked them and they just couldn't cope with it.
We've been wasteful in the middle of the park all season. This is why we still have a respectible goal difference in-spite of the poor results. If we can get two creative midfielders and a 20 goal striker, the results will be transformed regardless of the manager.
If Klopp thinks we defended and his side attacked, then he must have been watching a different game to everyone else. I thought we pressed well, moved the ball quickly and were always posing a threat. Rashford was nice and lively, but again, for all his energy he showed yet again that he isn't a striker, he will always get the odd few goals but we can't rel;y on him for 20 per season, the same for James. Those two with an out and out striker will be a formidable front three. I hope our new three at the back defence was a one-off, it didn't work, Wan Bassaka seemed a little out of place and less effective further forward and with James on the same side of the pitch there was little opportunity for either of them - James needs to play on the left. Pereira was wasteful, several opportunities came his way to put the ball into feet in one or two decent positions but he either shot at goal or didn't make the pass, the more he plays the more obvious it become that we need real experience in the side to replace him. All in all one of our better performances and certainly not a defensive shut out as Klopp would have everyone believe.
How much more money do you need to spend? Maybe try an alternative approach and build a team with what you have got
I don't see your problem in investing in buying the best talent there is, everyone else does it, RM, Barca, PSG, Bayern Munich - it's the same in major team sports all over the world NBA, NFL - if you have the money, and we do, where is the sense on not investing that in improving the team. It's like buying a house and not maintaining it.
