Agreed. But whilst it is hard to judge, I do personally believe that Ralph's results would be a lot better with us with better players, whereas Puel, MP and Hughes' results I don't think particularly would be. I really feel that we have a decent manager in place here. Unfortunately, because of the awful recruitment over a sustained period of time, Ralph has next to nothing to work with and there is a serious possibility that what we have just managed to avoid over the past two seasons will finally happen this season. Or if not this season, then next. Very, very impressed by Leicester by the way. As I have been all season. (So much more than their title winning season.) They really are so far ahead of us.
The XI that started that game needd disciplinng. They deserve all the dhit, all the abuse they get. Utterly useless lifeless performance. Ralph, for the good of your own reputation, you need to leave I think. You cant turn this **** around.
Actually, the biggest problem has been that the heart has slowly left Southampton FC since when Nikola Cortese was allowed to go. He kept His and Markus Liebherr's mission alive, and I have little doubt would have built upon it, given the chance. The momentum of that rise ended two seasons later with the team that featured the likes of Graziano, Dusan, and Sadio Mane. Ever since then it has been a slow descent with a few hopeful moments along the way. I wouldn't blame Ralph for any of that. He has tried his best with a team that lacks a coordinated defence of real quality. Everything else in the team is ok, if you're willing to settle for ok. A mid-table team that will make up the numbers. The NC/ML era wouldn't have been satisfied with that.
Thanks Libby, she is settling now she is on a drip. Funny day, as l wrote earlier, had a great day at the beach, here in Dubai, with the family. Good number of beers, we all stayed up to 11.00pm to watch the game, (the wife and our 7 year old twin daughters) and suddenly a stomach ache becomes a hospital run! Glad l missed the game but would have preferred a better reason than this!
I loved Ralph when he first came to the club due to a couple of optimistic performances but we are genuinely looking worse than any of the managers we've had since Puel. Regardless of crappy managerial decisions or crappy team performances, it never resulted in us losing by 9-0.
I remember spurs losing 5 nil at home to Arsenal, 6-1 at home to chelsea, and 6-1 at home to Sheffield United plus 7 nil away to Liverpool, 7-1 away to Newcastle, 6 nil at Bolton and of course 7-2 to Bayern Munich...the next win is always the sweeter after such a thumping. **** performance but a fluke result. Hope next week is better for you!
Ok just checked the score and wished I hadn’t. Am worried for the rest of the season. No point dissecting this one really. We are up against it with this team, we all know recruitment has been ****.
Very true and correct. Ralph and 3-4 of the first team are all I have any faith in. That’s not a quick fix.
