I'm going and it is my turn to drive so no vino. So that either means I'll be glad I didn't and can remember every moment of our victory that reversed the goal difference, or hand the keys to my mate whilst I drown my sorrows.
Everton are a very odd team, I had a right set to with a Blue Nose over the summer after they signed Andre Gomes permanently as they claimed it was a real coup and statement of intent.... it’s strange really as they are a very odd bunch of cast off players that have been collected under a wide variety of managers over the last few years. This is exactly the kind of game we need to win by showing grit, guile and a new found steel to our play. Heart says 3-0 win, head says 2-1 scrape.... UTS
Head says draw, heart says i don't care how we do it but looking at our remaining fixtures for 2019 - 3 points here could kick start our season... Arsenal (a) Watford (a) Norwich (h) Newcastle (a) West Ham (h) Villa (a) Chelsea (a) Palace (h) That run of games will define our season and going into them with the 9-0 out of our minds is huge.
I'd play the exact team except I'd put Djenepo (assuming he's healthy) in. Maybe take out Stephens. What was encouraging for me against Man City was less the display of fortitude (though that was definitely nice to see), but the fact that we actually looked organized. It wasn't just that everyone was running around and willing to give themselves up blocking shots, it's that they were actually in a position where they could block a shot. It was a gritty display sure, but more importantly it was effective. If we do that, and add Djenepo to give us a little more punch, I think we'll be okay. Our difficulty scoring is in large part due to the frailties of the defense. The City game showed us that the defense actually CAN do the job with a little bit of help. We're not going to face too many attacks as potent as Man City's. And if we have a bit more punch in the attack we won't have to commit so much and also the other team has to be more honest, and then we won't get caught on counters. We should still be thinking about winning 1-0, IMO. We should be playing largely defensive because our defense isn't that good. But if you have a difference maker like hopefully Djenepo is, and you have a press that can grab a cheap goal a game, then we can play a mostly defensive posture and still win.
Not sure how many of you follow other teams forums and yt channels. But my fav is Everton. Toffee tv is so fun when they lose. They moan like champions. It will make my week if we can erupt that place. They are already on the brink. Come on Marko, make this the last one.
They must be due to give us another OG. We can’t keep relying on opposition keepers to provide assists.
