I had the privilege yesterday of spending a few hours selling poppies with my two young Grandsons who had taken part in a local British Legion community project during half-term making clip-on poppies which were sold for £1 each. It was a really rewarding experience to actually give a bit of time for such a worthy cause and help educate the youngsters never to forget the contribution millions gave for our freedom. It was great to see the collection pots jammed full at the end of the day and thanks go to the generosity of the punters in Bermondsey Market...
The black cabs of London waiting on Westminster Bridge to ferry the veterans from Waterloo station to the Cenotaph and back again......for free. They do this every year, but it never seems to be mentioned in the press. Good on you cabbies. please log in to view this image
