Eriksen, Alderweireld, Vertonghen & Rose certainly.
But too many big egos there for that to happen.
They lost him his job, but have done Mourinho a favour. There should be no doubt that Spurs have big time Charlies like every other top club. At least he knows from the start who they are.

MP's treatment of Lucas was the issue that I and many others found most difficult to understand during his reign. Leaving him out of the CL Final was the cherry on top of the cake.

Lucas is a talent and given the same opportunities, he'd possibly be of a similar caibre as Son. He's definitely quicker and better in the air. I'm not surprised that Mourinho has stuck him straight in the starting line-up. Sure, it's putting an additional defensive burden on our right side but we looked a lot more solid with Moussa Sissoko covering Aurier and we can work on that to get it right.

His alertness made the second goal and having great pace out wide will open space for Ndombele, Dele and Lo Celso. Is it just Mourinho's management that has reinvigorated Dele? Possibly, it's also that also that there's been a lot more space for him to play in?

I think Eriksen's better in the air than Son, FFS! <laugh> It's by far the worst area of his game. Absolutely awful.

He's been restored to his old position as basically a second striker and we're playing with more width.
He's also been given a kick up the arse and reminded of his previous performances, but I think that's secondary.
Alli needs to be able to play between the lines, turn up in unpredictable places and attack as much as possible.
He's at his best when you don't know what he's going to do or where he's going to be.

Hes dropping off the defenders by 10 yards to receive the ball on the half turn. That's one of the best parts of his game and it means that Harry Kane's doing less of it, which increases his chances of getting in the box and finishing. It's all to the good.

The downside is that we need 2016/17 vintage Mousa Dembele and Big Vic to control the midfield and cover the gaps. An overweight and off form Eric Dier and Harry Winks just aren't up to the task. We need to find a partner for Ndombele for next season.

It might be possible to rotate regularly to get the midfield back up to speed and rehabilitate some of our squad members.

Dier did a good job against West Ham of screening the defence but he's not capable of two games in a few days.
If Wanyama could take some of the weight off him, then that would be great, but if not then Sissoko will have to do it.
It's that or Skipp has to step up, which I think he's capable of doing. Giving him some time from the bench is essential.

I'd like to see Moussa Sissoko start the next game. Currently, his levels are above Eric Dier. I don't see it happening.

I'm more in the camp of Seb Stafford-Bloor from this article...

    https://www.football365.com/news/how-will-jose-mourinho-cope-with-tottenhams-weak-heart

...in that I think Eric Dier's a long way off being a Top 4 player right now. Starting him against a better team than that West Ham side is likely to produce a result similar to last night - i.e. we get the almighty run around and ripped apart and Dier lumbers around to little good effect. Mourinho can apologise and pretend that he didn't deserve to get hooked...but he did.

He doesn't look fit and his passing has gone to ****. He may get it back together but we can't afford to keep playing him in the hope that he will. He has to get fitter and lose some bulk first and show that he's worth his place. Strangely, I feel that Mourinho's strength of commitment to him will see him start more games before the reality becomes inescapable. We shall see...

“I gave the best of me”

    Oh really?

Not since the start of pre season you didn’t. Strutted in to pre season thinking you’d cracked it, thought you were untouchable, thought you could get away with talking to all members of staff as if they were ****. I saw and heard it with my own eyes and ears,

Good riddance to the man, his behaviour was so arrogant and rude since July that his sacking was inevitable and deserved.

Thank goodness Levy has appointed a real winner to replace a bumbling idiot.

I have to take everything you say about Poch with a very large bag of salt. You haven't had a good word to say about him since he arrived. I think that you are letting your personal opinion cloud your judgement on what he has done for our football club.

It's worth bearing in mind that without Pochettino's work over the last 5 years moving Tottenham Hotspur from a peripheral top 4 maybe club to becoming a Champion's League regular it would be unlikely that a Manager of Mourinho's status would consider Spurs in the first place. Look for example how Louis van Gaal chose to go to United rather than Spurs. Of course the new stadium and training faculty also contribute to our improved world status but without doubt our appearances in the Champions League and even more getting to the final have reminded the world of the status of Tottenham Hotspur.

Thankyou for the last 5 years Mauricio Pochettino.

The statement was regarding "since July" etc, was it not.

Spurcat can answer for himself as to what his assessment of
the Pochettino "balance sheet" is from 2014 to the above.

You are exactly right about that, but I think we all know OS's view. Given his access, no one can dispute his standpoint, and no one thinks Pochettino was perfect (the bloody substitutions!!!). However no ones first hand evidence will shake from me the gratitude I feel for his achievements and the improvements he made. There is no doubt he is a magnificent manager and was exactly what we needed after Sherwood. He put this club on the map in a big way.

Assuming OS's views are correct (and I obviously yield to his greater knowledge), the man is also a very good actor, as he came across as a very decent human being. His reactions to Ryan Mason's retirement being just one example. Appearances can be deceptive though.

I may have felt his time was up but he’s the best manager I’ve seen at Spurs in my lifetime. He done what he set out to do: Make the fans proud of our club.

Provided me with some incredible memories and I’m gutted for him that he couldn’t lift a pot for us because his work deserved it.

Wish him all the very best in his next venture (unless it’s Arsenal! Though I doubt that) and I’d like to think the door isn’t closed on a potential return some day in the future.

I expect that it will be the same as mine was for Arry. Specifically :

    - Gratitude for taking the club to the next level (consolidation etc)

    - Bringing entertaining football to the team worthy of being labelled the "Spurs way"

    - Some memorable days and nights on pitch

    - Anger and bewilderment at how in the final third of a season it all went
pear-shaped so quickly (leading to their sacking)

He and the players got us through an incredibly tough 1.75 seasons at Wembley, with little or no money to spend and we ended up in the CL Final. For me, it's pretty close to unbelievable. It ground the bloke down and in his final season, he looked frazzled and very unhappy.

As in politics, the end for football managers is nearly always failure. That's the name of the game. For all Cloughie's incredible achievements at Forest, they were relegation bound when he left. It shouldn't diminish his legacy. For me, he was the greatest manager of all time.

On MP's departure, we were in a poor PL position but so very much stronger as a club. If Mourinho's half the manager he thinks he is, next season should be one where we win something. I really hope that we do and that Poch can raise a glass and smile.

Will just put this out there for discussion (specifically how much
"confirmation bias" do we collectively suffer as supporters) ...
