I lost my mother at 38 and 12 years later there is still a huge hole in my life. I am thankful that I had her love and guidance for so long in life and cannot comprehend what it would have been like to have been denied that so young.

Oh man I fully understand...........Trouble was I was in the hands of a bastard of a step father. I had to leave home by the time I was 14 otherwise he would have killed me or I him. About 2 years later I came home on my first leave to find my mum had been beaten to a pulp. Because she at last had dared to leave him. You can imagine the rest no doubt.........He ended up in hospital for quite a while and never came near me or mum again. Sadly she died a few years later............

I think I mentioned that I have a kindle, and yet still have loads of paper books. Remarkably, it was cheaper to get some good quality books delivered to me than it was to get the kindle versions so I've just ordered 12 paperbacks!
I was looking for a copy of Frank Herbert's Dune and realised that I no longer have a copy of any of the Dune series so have bought the 6 book set, some prequels that were written by Frank's son Brian and a few more books that were co-written by Brian and Kevin J Anderson that are part of the Dune universe.

Still my favourite SciFi series that covers thousands of years and has a hugely detailed political and social framework within which the books sit. Can't wait to get stuck into them again, even though I've read the first 6 books many times before.

I may have to make another bookcase however, but I do have a scaffolding plank in the garage which is my material of choice when not using old pallets

I have two old pallets in the garage for stuff and a couple round the back.... why don’t women like old pallets. They’re great. I keep telling her they’ll come in handy one day.

Sorry not the best photo of this picture .......Michele Pike.....A Very well known Australian artist paints quirky pictures. We actually met her and have her signature on the back of this print. Playing chicken..............Great work and sense of humour.
