So, all 3 MPs in Hull represent constituencies which voted Leave but decided their opinion was better than their consituents. You can bet if the Referendum had voted 52/48 Remainthey would have said it was an overwhelming mandate which was binding and there was no need for further discussion.
The representing everyone is a nice cop out, doesn’t go the way you want and ignore it saying you are thinking of what is best for everybody, goes your way and the only thing that matters is which way people who voted the way you think voted.

Until we get a ballot paper with a box that says 'none of the above on it', that we can all stick a cross in and be happy with how we've voted this country will carry on being run over by people with their own agendas and not the feelings of their constituents, many of which see being an MP as a fab salary and x's for being useless. Proportional representation is the only right and proper way, but we're trapped in the 16th century.

There are plenty of lefties who think a right wing police state is a possibility. The more hysterical ones describe the current government as one, some describe it, as they did Thatcher’s democratically elected government, a dictatorship. In reality a police state wouldn’t happen here. Not enough, on either side, are fanatical enough though some would like one.

There is someone demonstrating what Clemenceau said still holds true.

PR would, but for the reasons I put in an earlier post it won’t get voted in by the two main parties.

The votes of those who can’t be arsed to vote don’t count, do they?

You are struggling with the word “everyone”.

The level of scrutiny our MPs has never been higher an more exacting, their lies, deceit and hypocrisy are recorded online for posterity. There is very little scope for evasion unlike in previous eras.

No wonder Boris Johnson is frit of Andrew Neil. He saw what happened to Magic Grandpa and knew he would get same dismantling.

Coupled with the knuckle dragging tribal sloganeering that counts for political discourse between the cheerleaders of each faction, these are bleak times.

Of course they would consider it their job to deliver referendums if the referendum went the way they thought they should.

Not at all. They claim they are thinking of everyone if going against what their constituents vote for but don’t give a toss about everyone if the constituents voted the way they think they should. That applies to both main parties.

    1. He met with Sinn Fein & The Unionists. As did the Government. He spoke out against the 1985 Anglo-Irish Agreement as it didn’t go far enough to create a peaceful solution. He spoke up for & voted for the GFA. He has, when asked, condemned the atrocities carried out by the IRA & Unionists. He advised Mowlam to speak to people during GFA process & gave advice. There are many false stories put out by the Tax Evading MSM & others which are believed by many. The truth is he wanted peace in Ireland & worked to get it.

    2. It’s a non-story fabricated by the Daily Mail. He was there as a backbench MP with a Tory & LibDem to commemorate the widely condemned (even by the US) 1985 air strikes by Israelis on PLO offices in Tunis.

    3. He said it was a “Tory plot to exploit the situation & make Thatcher more popular” that’s not supporting Argentina. He believed (also documented) the UN should have sought a resolution. The 2017 Labour Manifesto pledged to defend the Falklands as necessary.

Listen to what he says & not what the MSM tell you he says.

They didn’t vote but they still have a right to represented. A more pertinent view would be to ask “why didn’t they vote & what can we do to make them want to vote”?

You are just as guilty, Ben. You appear to have an infatuation with Corbyn and consider anything said about him to be some sort of plot even when there is video evidence. Then, when evidence is shown of what he said you will no doubt say he is being misrepresented or meant something different.

I would say the answer to that question is nothing. Though many of those are the biggest moaners about whichever party does get elected. Though they will be voting left, right and centre on Strictly Com3 Dancing, The X Factor etc, etc...

Infatuation? Do you mean I’m not stupid enough to believe all the bollocks written without asking for evidence that is very rarely produced.

Show me the evidence. I’m sure there’s some out there.

There’s a famous picture of him at an IRA funeral ... only it’s not him

He has his views, he sticks to them, he’s open about them. History has shown him to be right far more than he is wrong.

I think one Party, more than all others, has done plenty to engage with those statistically more likely not to vote. Encouraging them to register & to vote.
