OK guys - going into the New Year and still 21 games to go for everyone. Given what you've seen so far and if we accept that the current top 2 are bound to be in there, pick your other 4 sides to end up with a chance of Prem football next season. I'll start it off (no particualr order)..............

Fulham (they have the quality squad to stay where they are or even do better)

Preston (despite their home defeat yesterday are a very strong well managed unit)

Brentford (another home loser yesterday but a huge threat with good football as well)

    Bluebirds (why not?)

If you don't think WBA and Leeds are certain to finish top 6, put someone else in there instead. <ok>

I can see only Fulham challenging the top 2.

That leaves 3 play off spots available.

Brentford should be one but don’t know how deep their squad is if they have key injuries.

Bristol I think will fall short. swansea I feel will drift to mid table.

Preston, Sheff W and Forest are difficult to predict. Again unsure about their depth of squads but they’ll all be there or thereabouts.

Bubbling below City are the likes of Millwall, Blackburn, Hull and even Reading who have a game in hand. Some of those teams need to hold onto their key players in January ie Wallace, Dack and Bowen. One of these could come through the pack with a decent run.

Which leaves City? Disappointed to read that no players will be purchased next month which I suppose will be fine so long as any new players coming in are better than they’ve already got. Certainly need strengthening in midfield and up top.

City certainly are resolute and difficult to beat but as we all know they need to be quicker and more creative and obviously score more goals. City are too reliant on Tomlin and if he’s injured or suspended then there’s nobody to take his place.

So no reason why City can’t get a play off spot if they add in key areas of the team but if I’m honest I think we’ll just fall short.

I’m going to reserve my opinion until after the transfer window as that could make all the difference to some of the aforesaid teams.

@ninian opinion Nin - Blackburn's Dack is out for 12 months - just done his ACL's last week.

That will be a big blow to them in the same way that Tomlin being out would be for us.

West brom and leeds have the jump on the rest but have been shown to be fallible. Despite conceding 4, i think that game may have doon leeds good. Fighting to the end.
Fulham have the quality, but dont seem to put a string of results together.
Brentford and the trees consistent but not spectacular.
Swans and brizzle have had good runs, but equally bad runs.
We've been patchy and ground out some decent results.
If we can show some consistency, we should be around top 6. A big IF, though Harris seems to be getting a more clear picture of his best 11. Fortunately, it seems to include tomlin just behind glatzel.

There are a few behind us that could go on a run and push for 6th.
Brum seem to be performing better than their results suggest and could push up the table, though possibly not enough.

Top 2 seems to be be from a shortlist of 3, with the next 3 any from 7 or 8.

A shrewd signing or 2 in January could easily change opinion.

    Ahh, the championship.......

I remember a thread on this forum I think that showed a computer prediction that said that Preston and Sheffield Wednesday would be in the bottom three come the end of the season. I disagreed with it then and I wouldn't be surprised if they both end up in the play offs. I also fancied Brentford last year but they fell away. Maybe this year they can make it. I don't think Fulham or Notts Forest will make it and as an outsider maybe Hull can sneak in. Leeds and West Brom are nailed on I think. Of course a lot can happen in the transfer window but I predict a top six of
    Leeds
    West Brom
    Preston
    Brentford
    Sheffield Wednesday
    Hull

No place there for the marmite Bluebirds but I hope I'm wrong.

Fulham will spend and could make top 2.

Anyone all the way down to Huddersfield could make up the other 3 places.

I go WBA Leeds Fulham Brentford Forest Preston.

Theres a few sides who must be in serious trouble if they fail to go up. Especially Swansea.

Evening guys & gals and a Happy New Year to all.

From my perspective (as a Leeds fan) there are 4 virtual certainties for the top 6...

    WBA
    Leeds
    Fulham
    Brentford

Which means there are still two places up for grabs.

Seems to me that since you appointed Harris there's been a real upturn and he'll definitely have you there or thereabouts.

So much so, I'm going to predict that you make it, with the final place going to Forest.

Good luck for the rest of the season and would happily take a point when we come down to your place in March.

    Would have to take a closer look at how the remaining fixtures pan out but my guess at this stage would be;

    West Brom
Leeds (as much as it pains me to say it, I can't see them falling apart again this year)
Fulham, as they'll strengthen again in January.
Forest will be there and that's a FACT
    Suspect the Wendies, and;
    Brentford

Though not necessarily in that order....

Think we'll just miss out by 3 or 4 points BUT we will have a decent run in the FA Cup (with some luck).

Very sensible post there Jammy as always - all I need now is a comment from Glory.

With what he's got at his disposal right now and probably more to come in January, Parker would have to have a serious brain fart to cock up their playoff chances. I agree they should be nailed on, but they can be a bit fragile and fall apart in games if things don't go their way.

I like Brentford's style but they're shooting for the big time now and it may get the better of them - I still see them as strong top 6 contenders though.

You can still pick the last two playoff spots out of around 10 sides - I went for Preston (well organised) and us (loose cannons), but what do I know? <ok>

City won’t be in the mix. That’s nailed on.

Will do well to not get dragged into a relegation scrap.

I do like statistics and one came to my attention that I particularly like is:

Cardiff are currently the worst professional football team of this decade, anywhere.

Anyway based on Leeds (fingers crossed, you never know with us) and WBA being in the top six the other four I could see being there are Brentford, Fulham, Notts Forest and Hull, only because I really don't like Millwall, but they are doing rather well since Harris left aren't they?
