A loss and they could fall to 6th, even 7th with a 19 goal swing. Ollie Watkins is clearly their main threat with 17 league goals so far this season, and has been quoted in the media this week dismissing a possible move away from the Bees in January. We go into this having scored 11 in our last two games, and Saturday will be a stern test for our attacking force, as Brentford currently have the best defense in the Championship having only let in 20 goals so far this year. Interesting one this, because I must confess that I grew up always regarding Brentford as the local smaller team, as for a number of years they were at least a division below us, but historically they have the better of us in the stats. They are also heading to a brand new stadium before long, while we are still squabbling over what/where/how big a new stadium would be. Gotta hand it to them, they are doing well. Which would sort of make it even sweeter if we could go there and get a result...it is live on Sky though . Team news QPR: Yoann Barbet (hamstring), Charlie Owens (knee), Toni Leistner (doubt). Brentford: Sergi Canos (knee), Nikos Karelis (knee). Pre-match words QPR manager Mark Warburton: “I’m expecting a very good footballing test. Brentford have been great at home and they have a very strong defensive record. They’ve conceded very few goals; they move the ball really well; they have good individual talents and collectively they are very strong. We know that we face another tough challenge but we have scored 11 goals in two games and we go into it full of confidence.” Brentford manager Thomas Frank: “First and foremost, I'm looking forward to seeing Mark Warburton and his staff. We need to respect and understand the big impact he had here at Brentford. All of us are standing on the shoulders of others and he is the top foundation. He was part of creating that identity we have now.” Enjoy those who are going and...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
And Yoann Barbet. I'd take a point from this one now if offered. We really seem to struggle there in recent times. In most cases, we haven't even shown up let alone come close.
Would probably take a point but given the last two games you'd hope we'd be up for going for all 3. Never quite understood why they dislike us so much. I like them, and they would probably be the team I'd loosely support if QPR dissapeared overnight (obviously could never fully support another team again). They are very well run at the moment and credit to them. Hopefully we can show them on Saturday that we're finally going in the right direction too, however.
Be delighted with a point but it would be nice just to play reasonably well there after all the recent horror shows. The night game (if I remember it correctly) under Ramsey was the worst. JET taking long throws into a penalty area with no QPR players by the end of that one.
If I was a betting man, I'd definitely say that this won't be a 0-0. Although I wouldn't mind if it was. please log in to view this image
Nines, I would be suspicious of the "fake" data in this table. Our results stats are: played 26; won 10; drawn 5; lost 11 Perhaps the maths is the issue!
Unless they totally freeze on the day, which I’m told is genuinely a huge occasion for them, you can’t see us conceding less than two. They’re nailed on for a ludicrously soft penalty for starters.
Would be nice to get the first goal. I’m sure about ten people died on that lower tier terracing when Sylla equalised in what turned out to be a routine 3-1 defeat a few years back.
Everything is stacked against us..... Playing the best football side in the division..... Local derby..... They score for fun and have best defence in division..... We score for fun but also concede for fun... We have a rubbish record at their place.... Our last visit to Griffin Park.... And the real clincher.......live on sky
I remember the Bircham goal! Always remember how manic it was in the standing terrace. I think i was at the back and after he scored ended up at the front of the goal.
All this win mentality is really going to give the team a boost. As MW has said before what happened before means nothing.
