We sold our top striker a good striker because Rad didn't want to pay him £30,000 a week with a new contract, according to some we then payed a youth player the equivalent of £95,000 a week including the massive loan fee some believe, come on get real, Rads a tight wad clever business man and if he really did that then he is a village idiot. No I don't believe for one second the numbers some are saying.
Nor do I. And nor do I believe the numbers you're using. Why? Well, it's a funny thing with this club. Someone floats a rumour on social media. It then gets picked up by other social media sites & NN ****erags. Once it gets bounced about for a couple of weeks, the rumour becomes an assumption, and before you know it, it becomes fact. Sadly though, it's only genuine 'internet fact', which means that it's without substance, yet people use these numbers to push an agenda. This agenda though, gets recognised as having real, unignoreable substance as it's reporting 'published facts', and before you know it, this agenda goes through the rumour / assumption / fact cycle, and we get arguments such as this thread, where no-one in fact knows fcuk all. Absolutely fcuk all. Clubs keep all their finances to themselves, rightly, until they are forced to publish accounts. Anyone suggesting they 'know' any numbers is either dipping into the 'facts' above, or just making it up. There really can be no winners in this argument, as no-one knows fcuk all. And even if we did have numbers, not one of us is an accountant steeped in FFP requirements.
Sky Sports via Jim White saying that they are being told Southampton will back The Hoff and block any move for Che Adams. Turkish media reporting that Emre Mor is very keen to move to LUFC, his agent has travelled over to try and get it done but the club are hesitant because while Mor clearly has talent he has been in poor form for ages and has a history of attitude problems.
The point I'm making is I believe we could easily spend £20/30 million which would only be £7/£10 million in this financial year without worrying about ffp, if we don't go up we already know Rad has to sell the club or sell Phillips to balance the books we lose Bielsa and probably in the championship for another 10 years, we have no choice but to take a gamble or give up.
Staying out of the FFFP rule argument as its pointless my opinion is that we are closer to breaching than Chesh thinks. newspapers are so desperate for a story that a couple of guys off WACCOE talking about a QSI deal for 20% n the next two weeks with a full buyout in the Summer.....
And the point I'm tryin to make is that you are not in possession of any facts that can allow you to make that assertion. Facts. Not something that's been through the 'rumour / assumption / fact cycle. Your post is totally devoid of fact. At best it's assumption / aspiration combo. But no fact. And just to be clear, I have no facts to argue against it either. Very few know our actual situation & let's face it, Radz is no mug. He'll be well aware of what he has to do, but can Orta find the right resources, and can the club (not Radz!) afford to pay for it? We'll never know the truth.
The fact is with £30 million in sales and £40 million in other income, we should be able to buy better than most in the championship, over the last 4 years we are probably in the bottom half on player sales, we shouldn't be, our income is probably double what it was when Ken Bates was here, yet we spend no more on players now than we did then, where is it going, we sold or got rid of 19 players last season and have 3 on loan as replacement, where's the savings going not on players. Forest are linked with the same players as us, yet probably have income £20-£30 million less than us the last 12 months, why.
The Adams thing reminds me of the James thing and we don’t want anyone with negative attitude problems
It’s a joke mate, whoever sanctioned Nketiah being able to be recalled in January wants a serious talking too. Why we haven’t secured a replacement in the first week is just as criminal
Wouldn't it have been great on Saturday if we could have freshened things up a bit with a striker off the bench. Could have been the difference between 3 points and what we ended up with.
That's a good point but, since plan B is to do plan A better and whoever comes off the bench wasn't considered good enough to start I'm not sure it would have helped. It would be great if Bielsa did actually have a plan B when teams use a high press against us. That must open up spaces elsewhere. Maybe he does that I don't see. I know he likes the long diagonal ball but that is part of plan A I think. It surprises me that he doesn't have a plan to accommodate someone like Nketiah doing what he does best. Hopefully someone will explain. I really think the problem is what he has to work with. I think his system with Premiership quality personnel would be incredible, as it is for Liverpool and City.
Go have a look at the vid on the Bielsa Tactcs 101 thread. Might answer a few questions for you. I'm going to have to watch it a few ties again myself, as I've not been able to take it all in. I'm also guessing that good though the vid is, the compiler has probably missed all sorts of nuances that are going on, that only the players & coaching team are aware of.
Dont tell me the FFFP rules are not affecting the slow transfer situation in our league please. i have just gone through every club in the league and the total spent on transfer fees is ZERO so far. except for Fulham £15m every player who has moved into this league has come on loan except for Fulham. Barnsley 2 in and 1 out Birmingham 0 in 1 out blackburn 0 in 1 out Brentford 0 in 1 out bristol 0 in 2 out derby 0 in 2 out Fulham 1 in 1 out hudds 2 in 1 out Hull 1 in 0 out Leeds 0 in 3 out Boro 2 in 3 out Milwall 0 in 1 out Reading 0 in 1 out Wednesday 0 in 1 out Swansea 2 in 0 out WBA 0 in 1 out The other clubs none in or out yet Total players in 10 Total players out 20 this window is the hardest window in the calendar and everyone knows that and yes Orta will have been doing keg work on the three targets the club spoke about weeks ago. Keeper and replacement for Clarke and a striker in case Eddie went back. ielsa will have been appraised and he wants Adams but if Adams not allowed we need to move to plan B and Im sure we will. Keeper deal done and Winger deal almost done so in fact so far so good compared to the rest of the league. Its the start of week 2 of 4 weeks
The difference is.. They all have more than one striker, we sold one and took a replacement on loan with a recall clause, that is poor planning
Doc, WJ you watch a number of the U23 games and from memory Eddie played in those teams, occasionally? If he did was he that much better than the U23 forwards we have?
In a word, yes. However, you may have noticed that when it came to Bielsaball, he was found lacking. If the question was "would Leeds have benefited more from Eddie playing in the first team than an u23 striker this season", the answer is not so clear. He just didn't do Bielsaball. Now whether that was down to attitude, inability, or whatever, I just don't know. Yes, he was a good fox in the box who could score, but he wasn't a good fit for us & wasn't getting better in that respect (imo). Edmondson would be a better fit, Bielsaball-wise, but don't think the time is right for him & we've hopefully learned from Grot in that respect. I believe that Edmondson is the best u23 prospect, hence I've not mentioned anyone else.
Thanks, we always seem to grab for the new recruit, star signing and to be honest even if we sign a player tomorrow, from past experience, Bielsa isn't likely to play him for several weeks, end of Feb? So I was just wondering if any of the U23 could step up. The reason we have a strong academy team is to supply the first team, surely?
