With Newcs in the process of a potential Saudi buyout and no doubt a huge cash injection flouting FFP.
It made me wonder what level of morality fans should have over who runs their club.

Clearly the Saudi's are an unsavoury bunch but would hardly be alone in that in this PL billionaire play ground.

If the Saudi's were to guarantee a title in 3 years. (I know this can only be promised and even with ridiculous investment couldn't be guaranteed)

    - Should you be happy and welcome them in?

    - Does it depend on current circumstances?

For example, Newcastle they have a completely loathed owner, who hardly makes you feel warm and fuzzy about his business practices, but looks like Mother Teresa next to the Saudi regime. Add to that, Ashley will never spend close to the required money to challenge for anything. Though middling in the PL is realistic.

How about us? Delia isn't loathed, she's even pretty popular amoungst a decent proportion of the fan base. But is an ambitious wrongun with pockets deep enough to give us a title a price worth paying? Everyone must buy the title these days, why not us? Or should we wait and hope for a more moral set of billionaires?
If we won 1 or even more titles, the ride would be incredible, the binners would even perhaps shut up about ancient history. Winning a fair way is impossible, should we embrace foul?

And what if you're a binner? More than a decade in City's shadow. An owner who looks dodgy to say the least, who is dragging your club to debt riddled oblivion. What then?

    Bah!

I always say that we need to be careful what we wish for. I remember the end of Robert Chase and the close call with financial oblivion. I like doing things the 'Norwich way'. So what we've got hardly any money to spend, but being Yoyo team is exciting in its own way. I am writing this in my Norwich shirt and I still get uneasy wearing it because of the gambling logo and name on the front. I wish other companies gave as much money as the gambling ones did so that we could go with one of those rather then a gambling one. It would be amazing to win the league, but yeah I would rather do it without the dirty money.

It seems the Geordies wouldn't care who takes over as long as its not Ashley. Would we have been more open to the Saudi's or another unsavoury charactor with Chase still at the helm?

Fulham are owned by a mega rich bloke and still pretty ****e ,they were worse than us even after blowing £100m

QPR thought they would be playing Champions League football with their money bags owner.

Would you want Vincent Tan taking over then changing our home shirt to red because it's lucky?

I have gone off Delia in recent years for her snooty political leanings whilst living in a gated mansion in rural Suffolk, but her and her husband genuinely love our club and don't seem to want to make money out of us.

You would be hard pushed to find any other owners that don't treat the club like a toy or way to make money.

There's a lot of neutrals who have a lot of respect for how you have gone about your business.
Playing some good football, and being damn unlucky. And on the ownership, I'd have yours over most of the others in the league including the chancer we have at the helm right now.

I agree, Delia isn't offensive enough to get our backs up fully. Can we ever win anything with her at the helm? Very very unlikely, but we can be a well run club that entertains its fans. That is where we are. But like I said, how would you feel about the Saudi's coming in when Chase was illiciting protests and systematically buggering the club?
Put yourself in a Newcs fans shoes, would you want the Saudi's to take over? On face value at least it should improve the clubs chances of competing at the top end and they're not Ashley.

I guess it depends whether or not your pride in the club is linked to winning things or how it conducts itself. I'm generally content, but this doesn't mean I don't want to do better, but not at the cost of the clubs reputation.

It makes the good results even sweeter when we beat sides like Man City , their team bus probably costs more than our entire squad.
The only drawback being our self funding club relies on selling our best players if we don't constantly achieve Farkes little miracles.
Our rare local gems like Cantwell may end up at cash converters to keep the lights on .
