I've just entered my ninth decade of watching and supporting "The Tigers", Sadly after being a regular at home games in the late 40s and 50s I am now in my 80s forced to watch on TigersTV at 7 am on Saturday mornings at my home in British Columbia. I've been sad to see many of my favorite Hull City players leave or retire from playing over the years, but one stands out in my mind.. Horatio Stratton (Raich) Carter. A very very sad day for all of us City fans when he left the club. What a player !!!
Actually, although he was confined to occasional cameos, and his leaving was against a backdrop of the euphoria to premier league for the first time, I was gutted when Jay Jay went. I'm not sure how many minutes he played for us, but I have more magical memories of him than most others I have seen. That first half vs Burnley was a master class until the ref (Dean?.) ruined it by evening things out and making him the fourth (?) sending off before half time . I believe that was his last ever appearance and the only time he was sent off. Absolute pleasure to watch.
I remember watching him at Wolves away - he was unbelievable waltzing through the Wolves penalty area at one stage - when he was substituted the whole stadium game him an standing ovation
andy robertson because i made a post that we would make a huge profit on him i saw his potential harry maguire is garbage though i still think its ridiculous he was bought for 80m hes bang average at the top level never understood the rating around him he is nothing close to a world class centre back luckiest man to ever live in my opinion again as i always said
Although I don't recall the experiences vividly, my granddad started taking me to watch City play in the 51-52 season, which was the last one Carter was at City. Everyone talked about how magnificent a player he was. The thing I remember most about him was that he managed the best player I ever remember seeing play for City - one Ken Wagstaff, when he was playing for Mansfield. A joy to watch - as were most of his team-mates during the mid-late 60's (Chilton, Houghton, Butler etc).
My Dad said Raich was the best player he ever saw. He even went to his funeral and though I offered to go with him, he didn't want me to go. I'm guessing he knew it was going to be emotional for him.
I said the very same about maguire when he was with us,but i got slaughtered by the little clique that exists on here.....and we all know who they are
Harry McGuire is garbage ? No , he really isn't. Wether he is 'worth' £80 million is another debate. I don't think I'm in any clique as far as I know
I’m in most cliques on here and I’ve always said Harry’s a lucky boy Makes a lot of mistakes but they never get mentioned, here and at Leicester.
I haven't seen Harry play apart for Ingurland. Is he **** for Chelsea? He was great for City and Inglundn Am I in a click? I bet I'm not ya bastards
