I think the disagreement comes from the notion that what he is 'worth' (the original question) directly correlates to his perceived market value based on a select few clubs being willing to offer him an inflated wage. I don't agree with that and what he is actually worth remains far lower in my opinion. He is simply not worth 25K on what I've seen, what other 19 year olds with 12 apps are worth, etc etc. However I accept his agent has us bent over and he's already lubed up. It will always also be skewed by our fans insatiable desire to believe that Mike Ashley is ****ing us at every turn. Whether through malice or incompetence. So they become frustrated that Newcastle are unwilling to be ****ed over by Longstaffs agent. That then becomes "well he is only asking for what he is worth" when he isn't. As I say whether he is worth it or not is largely irrelevant because the scenario is set, he is holding better cards so you might as well accept it, sign him and protect your asset. The risk is of course he becomes nowt and you are stuck with him until 24 on a bumper contract he never deserved.
I agree with Pouchy and DPP I think people are thinking about Mike Ashley when talking about this subject. It's little too do if Matty deserves those wages, And more the belief that Ashley is purposely and directly refusing to pay those wages to spite the fans. This happens with every bit of news at Newcastle, we muddy the discussion with some conspiracy that it is a purpose decision to frustrate a few fellas at work for 5 minutes. It isn't. In all reality Colback once looked like a top English prospect and now we are stuck with him on a top wage, Matty has made a handful of apps in his first proper year of football. 25k is a lot to demand.
or we are right. anything you disagree with is imo 99.8% worth considering. if i was lost in the woods and under gunfire I would survive simply by doing the opposite action to yours. you're the guy in the movie that keeps getting people killed
whilst both the Longstaffs may become good Premier League players, I very much doubt there is any sort of plan for them to fill midfield spots next season. As such, why would you give him a salary that makes it difficult to get him to move on to the championship. Think that ginger twat from Sunderland.
Colback was a premier league player at 19. He was called up to two England squads against Norway and Switzerland, but was later forced to pull out due to injury, and was one of Sunderlands highest paid youngsters. Yeah, you missed it.
sorry it was my fault i misunderstood. you said top england prospect . i still dont agree . ive eaten too much crap and drank enough water to give my cells a hard time with osmosis
