Rondon 4 in 10 in the Chinese Super League, Joelinton 1 in 13 in the EPL or Mitro 15 in 18 in the Championship just a reminder Mitro and Rondon scored the same amount last year. The lad is mustard!

Rafa and Rondon have been **** in China to be fair, I dunno if it's their fault though. I can honestly admit I've never watched a chinese league game.

Mitro though, we never should have sold, simple as.

You and Rafa are entitled to your opinion although I'd value your opinion as much as I do Rafa's or vice-a-versa however you want to look at it - I mean even Wor Sir Brucey is doing better than Rafa did.

My opinion is I think he was class and 2 red in 72 appearances is hardly outrageous which was the basis of your argument there, my argument is he is better than Rondon and Joelinton, debate me on that if you will.

He is scoring goals for fun and scored just as Rondon in the prem for statistically the second worst side in the league.

Getting rid was a terrible idea, absolutely no way a Rafa mega fan can wrangle a way it was a good idea.

Can we look at the situation here, beyond if you believe Rondon was marginally better player or not. What we essentially did under Special One Jr's guidance was this - sold a premier league quality goalscorer for cheap to a bottom half rival, signing up a significantly older replacement on loan with absolutely no guarantee said player will remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

The following season player has gone to China, and Newcastle United must purchase a £40 mil replacement and some fans are questioning if we can resign Mitro.

And you would suggest it was decent business cos he got a card

Look at someone like Ivan Toney as well. Sold for 250k now worth £13m apparently and banging in goals for fun left right and centre. Think we were pretty lucky in the past with some of the strikers we had in our hay day and fans want similar when were are now buying £40m kids as opposed to world record fee's for proven players in the league but if they don't set the world alight they are binned off as not good enough. Toney will play in the EPL in 2/3 years time and probably cost £15-20m for someone to pick him up.

Interesting that, after two years Mitrovic still polarises opinions. Most centre on the assumption that in the championship he has found his level. This is nonsense. At Newcastle and at Fulham he has demonstrated that he can score goals in the premiership and more importantly, he is proven at the highest level which is at international level. In the recent Euro qualifiers Serbia scored 19 goals – of which Mitrovic scored 10.

Another accusation that has been levelled is that he is lazy. This is untrue. His hold up play is excellent, as is his defensive duties – in short he has become a more mature player, his positional awareness is excellent – you don’t score 15 goals in 18 games without being in the right place at the right time. Another point to make is that his behaviour has improved – for sure is it is never going to be perfect, if fact his has served a one match ban for five yellows and this is going to be a constant throughout his career.

There are those Newcastle fans that would have Mitrovic back, but under the management of Bruce this would be a disaster. This is a manager who has had 10 other clubs – Newcastle being his 11th and, apart from a couple of playoffs he has won nothing, his tenure at Sunderland was a disaster and his record of improving players is not good, a case in point is the way he handled Jack Grealish, now under a new manager Grealish is on the verge of an England call up.

Finally, on the subject of Mitro’s future. He has signed a five year deal and, as we all know, contracts are meaningless – however if he does leave it will be a Commercial decision and not a personal one. Although we have a multi billionaire chairman who is supportive of the club he is funding the development of the River side stand and although the cost has not been divulged due to the complex nature of the build it is bound to be substantial. Have a look at the progress here.

Bruce has managed relatively small sides, it could be argued that Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle are his largest jobs. In the actual context of teams Bruce has managed and the goals achieved it has been argued to death that his record is a decent one. Detractors and defenders will use these statistics and facts to argue both points and it's a null and void argument that falls on opinion.

Jack Grealish was in constant trouble for a few seasons and exceedingly difficult to manage. It should be noted that when a Birmingham fan punched Jack it was noted that such a volatile gobshite like him did not retaliate. It's only in the past two seasons that Grealish has begun to manage himself.

Sunderland fans on their board this week have mostly agreed that Bruce is their most successful manager over the past ten years. He achieved their highest ever finish and his side could beat anyone on their day. It should once again be noted, Ellis Short sold those players without replacements and without offering money. That is why Sunderland slowly fell apart over a ten year period.

    I
won't pretend that I wanted Bruce as our manager, but to suggest his record is that of a useless donkey, when he has outlived most of the managers around his age through his achievement of goals is just nonsense.

And to suggest that Mitrovic would fail under Bruce because It's Bruce is based on absolutely no evidence. To the contrary both Asamoah Gyan and Darren Bent had some of their best periods under Bruce.

exactly. Gayle and Mitro are both a similar level and can only really cut it in the lower leagues.

Not true. Mitro scored 11 goals in the premiership for a desperately poor Fulham side. He is a goal scorer at any level, and his link up play for us is excellent. He has played three games since returning from injury and scored in all of them. I understand that he was dogged by disciplinary issues at Newcastle, however he is an older and more mature player than you remember. He has drawn six yellow cards this season, mostly for dissent than reckless play. I see no reason why the 'new' reformed Mitrovic cannot do a job for you.

I love this fallacy that fans believe he's some kind of nutter - 77 EPL games (career) and his discipline record is:
    Yellow cards - 11 (34)
    Red cards - 2 (3)

    Hardly outrageous.

He'll never be a 25-30 goal a season player but guaranteed 10-15 in any league now he's a bit more mature and his link up play is great.
