Manchester City have been banned from European competition for the next two seasons after being found to have committed "serious breaches" of Uefa's club licensing and financial fair play regulations. The reigning Premier League champions have also been fined 30m euros (£25m). Its nice to see some Karma.
Love it. They will appeal, and probably win but its a great headline. I think Pep will be away at the end of the season as well.
They will appeal, punishment will be delayed, money will change hands, and after a year or so they'll get a slap on the wrist
City's statement... "Manchester City is disappointed but not surprised by today's announcement by the UEFA Adjudicatory Chamber. The Club has always anticipated the ultimate need to seek out an independent body and process to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of its position. "In December 2018, the UEFA Chief Investigator publicly previewed the outcome and sanction he intended to be delivered to Manchester City, before any investigation had even begun. The subsequent flawed and consistently leaked UEFA process he oversaw has meant that there was little doubt in the result that he would deliver. The Club has formally complained to the UEFA Disciplinary body, a complaint which was validated by a CAS ruling. Simply put, this is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity."
i think if city fail to get past real in the next round pep could walk anyway, this could cement it imo
They should think themselves lucky. Compare their case with Saracens', in what was effectively an RFU witch hunt, and they've come off very lightly.
S Liverpool have done their buisness wisely though mate. They sold Suarez , Sterling and Coutinho for ridiculous money and replaced them with cheaper players that have gone on to be just as good if not better. Theyve also always been a huge club with a large turnover, unlike City that were probably as big as us before the Arabs took over.
Just the thought of Scousers mouthing off when they win things makes me want it to be them though mate..
Although no fan of Man C I hope they win this years CL and then refuse to go and collect it. F*ck EUFA. Barcelona have been caught a few times and sweet FA has happened. PS, as it stands would Sheff U qualify. Oh I do hope so.Be funny as f*ck.
will man c be in the Europa league then ? they could have wound up in league 1 though, and talking of that how did Chelsea get their transfer embargo lifted ?. Juventus want Pep so that will be that they will get him on the cheap now. They should get Moyes in and have a taste of what we've been going through. The joke is Man u will take their place.
If City won the CL and an English side wins Europa, we could have the absolute madness of 7th place getting CL football, assuming the 2 trophy winners qualify through the league. Bananas
Yep and i bet the mags finish 7th ! another back door for them. so will pep play reserve teams in the league now and play his best team in the champions league.
I think it's been an open secret that they've been fiddling the books and it was only a matter of time before it caught up with them. Doesn't make much difference practically, their owners can pay any fine and they're useless on the world stage anyway Pep or no Pep.
Not sure about that. Be harder for them to keep and attract new players and no Champions League footy would cost them the best part of £100 mil over 2 seasons. Possible points reduction in the Prem as well according to the Independent which would be a few more quid lost. I suppose they could always get a new sponsorship deal with Etihad to cover it like.
Money has spoiled football. Its not a sport anymore, VAR has ****ed it up even further Where has our beautiful game gone? Yes, I know Im a boring old fart
I hope they do feel the effects of the sanctions, I used to like City but they're one of those teams that disgusts me a little bit now with the way they use money. They aren't the only ones by any means and hopefully it sends a message to the others.
